I’m in too—feeling needed focus and motivation just reading this as I lace up for my run today! Is there some we can note ourselves as part of your team when we register for the virtual Monterey Bay Half?
So glad to hear that, Kara! That's a great question -- I'll reach out to the folks at the Big Sur Marathon (who organize the Monterey Bay Half) and ask if that's possible. Great idea!
I am an early morning person. Fortunately, so far, it humidity has been bearable. Sometimes in July/Aug (Cincinnati) it isn’t. Great job on the 6! I am just getting to the point where I can be more consistent so this is awesome timing!
Thanks for posting our 20 week training plan and starting us off today! I ran 3.5 miles on the treadmill at 3% grade. Just getting back into running after the disappointment of seeing all the races I planned to run get canceled (including Hood to Coast) this summer. I needed a shot of honesty to break my running funk
You were going to run Hood to Coast?! I’ve heard it’s amazing; a good friend of mine ran it years ago and loved it. Keeping my fingers crossed it’ll be back next year.
Yep. I ran it for the first time in 2016, my introduction to the most epic running experience I’ve ever known. I became addicted immediately .... then slept for two days straight 😳
I did 5.02 miles this morning with a sporadic light rain and winds of 15-20 mph. The weather was unsettled and I love it that way. I did some intervals and felt pretty good about it but didn't push myself. This is Day 75 of a streak that I'm doing. At least 1 mile is required to keep up the streak but I average 3-5 miles per day. My last half marathon was on 3/7 in Creve Coeur, MO, and I've attempted to keep some level of fitness during the shutdown. We have an in person 5K on July 4th with a limit of 250 participants and staggered starts that I'm thinking about doing. There was an in person 5K on Memorial Day too, but I didn't do it.
Sounds like a great run, Sharon! I am BLOWN AWAY by your running streak too! Seventy-five days is just amazing. How many total miles have you logged so far in the streak?
Really interested to hear how the in-person 5K on the 4th goes too.
Thank you for this! I have not kept up lately with your writings, but wanted to do this very much. I recently created my own 20 week plan without knowing you were. I guess great minds...! I ran my 3 this morning. Have a great and blessed day!
Thanks so much for putting this together, Terrell! I'm registered for the Richmond Half in November and, although I'm skeptical it will actually be held in person, I'm still using it as a training goal. It so happened that I had a 3D gait analysis done today, which was very cool. After I got back from that, I ran a very easy 3 miles, no watch or earbuds, so I could focus on what the PT showed me.
Ran 4 easy miles this morning before checking my email. Felt fine before, during and after, including cool down and stretching, but after driving home my left knee had some pain. Nothing happened on the run so I am surprised. I am icing and resting it today, and it feels somewhat better. What a way to start with you guys!
I’m in too! I just finished (barely) a marathon last Sunday, “50 States of Z”, so my brother-n-law could complete his 50th state marathon before his 50th birthday (June15th - so excited for him!!) Anyhow this gives me something to keep me motivated!! Thanks 😊
So glad to hear that, Bill! Registration will open up later this summer, and I'll send info out on it as soon as the race organizers give the go-ahead. I'm really excited too -- even though we won't be able to run it in person, it'll be fun to dream about and run together, even though we can't all be together in person. Until (someday!) we can again. 👍
This is an amazing idea! I love it! The Monterey Bay Half is one of the races I've always wanted to run, and I like the idea of doing a virtual running group! I'd also love to support any other smaller races as we train for the "big day" together, as well. Does my 3-mile run last night count for today? ;) I'm starting to get used to running in the heat and humidity of North Carolina. Very different than running on the West Coast.
I’m in for the Monterey Bay Half! This morning it’s cold and raining in Lakewood, Colorado and snowing in some parts of the state. Looking forward to training with all of you!

This is awesome!! Luckily I ran this morning. Didn’t feel like it but pushed myself to 6. Good heavens it’s humid! I think I sweat off 10 pounds lol!
Thank you again!!
You rock, Jennie!! 🙌 It’s HUMID here too!

I ran my 3. Thank you for the nudge!
Love hearing that, Elaine! As soon as my wife gets back from walking our dog, I’m heading out too 👍

Total miles were 350.43. I had to buy new shoes!
I'm not surprised! That is truly awe-inspiring.

Awesome, Ben!! Right back at you 😀

Great start, Ruth! Rest that knee and we'll be back at it on Thursday. 👊
I ran 2.5 before I checked my email, but I think that will still work for today! 😉
That definitely works, Meg! 👍

So glad to hear that, Bridget! Wow, that is amazing about the marathon!! Way to go for your brother!
Sounds like a fun event! It's getting hot and humid in Texas, and the training should be a fun challenge. I'm in!

Awesome, Leslie! Snowing?! Wow. Glad you’re a part of this 😀
Is it possible to get the schedule a day ahead? =D
Sure! Here’s where you can find the whole schedule: https://www.halfmarathons.net/20-week-half-marathon-training-schedule/
I’ll also include the schedule for each week in an email at the start of the week. Great feedback!
