Jungfrau Marathon
Interlaken, Switzerland | Saturday, September 6, 2025
Billed by its race organizers as “the most beautiful marathon in the world,” this race takes runners on a jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring tour of the mountains that lead up to one of the most stunning peaks in the Swiss Alps. From the starting line in Interlaken — a resort town in the Bernese Oberland region of central Switzerland, which lies on a stretch of land between a pair of lakes — the route climbs nearly 5,000 feet by the time you reach the finish line, at the Kleine Scheidegg railway station, where you’ll catch the train back down to Interaken. And before Saturday’s 26.2 miles, you can participate in shorter runs on Friday, including kids’ races between 200 and 1,600 meters, and a “minimarathon” fun run in the early evening.

Your favorite running book?
Something that caught my eye in the responses Debby Jones shared in our Wednesday interview was how she “always [has] a running book going. I literally have a shelf dedicated to books on running.”
That got me wondering — and I don’t know if I’ve ever asked this question before, which I can’t believe I haven’t if that’s the case — what is your favorite book on running?
For me, it’s a tie between
’s Running Home and Christopher McDougall’s Running With Sherman, a beautiful story about the year he spent rescuing a long-neglected donkey on a rural Pennsylvania farm, helping him rehab and train for the burro racing world championship in Colorado. (We even read it together in our book club a few years ago.)So, what’s your favorite running-related book?
To watch/listen
Because it’s Friday — or, as I like to call it, “Friday fun day” — I thought I’d share with you a quirky (interesting? odd?) rabbit hole I ventured down the other day on YouTube, when I discovered just how many covers there are of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” out there. Bluegrass bands, symphonies, bagpipers, guzheng players — even a guy with a washing machine — they’ve all covered the song, and they have to be seen to be believed.
Here’s one of my favorites I hope you enjoy too — and in the meantime, have a fantastic weekend and get in a great run out there ☀️ — Terrell
I love WHAT I TALK ABOUT WHEN I TALK ABOUT RUNNING by Haruki Murakami! In fact, after reading this post, I re-ordered it from the library. :)
It was amazing! I went with my husband and kids (9 and 11), ran a marathon in Germany and then spend 2 weeks in Switzerland with Interlaken as our home base. Interlaken was super touristy, but a perfect location for day trips up to the mountains.
