This is good timing on this article. Thank you! I am attempting a streak right now as I prep for a marathon in Sep. (today is Day 58) I have been trying to find the right balance. I have felt bad for only running 3-4 miles per day (except on my long run day) so my average is in the low 30’s. I feel like I need to be adding more miles to get ready but also am trying not to peak at the wrong time or burnout. So thank you for the food for thought.

Ben that is awesome and you shouldn't feel guilty about 3-4 miles per week. I know a few streakers and many that do it for years consider 1 mile sufficient.

Thank you! Probably a typo but that is 3-4 per day. I am doing the Air Force marathon in Dayton, OH. It is my 3rd time. Last year it got cut short at mile 21 due to high heat and a lot of 1st aid needs for participants. If I would have been a little faster I would have made it past 21 before they shut it down. That is my extra motivation for bring faster.

Definitely, Ben! Are you following a training plan? My guess is, if you’re running 30+ miles per week and the marathon is another 5 to 6 to 7 weeks away or so, you’re doing great already.

Thank you for the feedback. Following a modified version of a plan. I used a beginners plan for my first 3 and have modified for this. This is my 4th in 4 years so I do not do them very often. And the ones out there are not all that helpful for me. I have 8 weeks left (9/21) so I believe you are correct that I am on the right track. The encouragement is appreciated! I gave myself 20 weeks to prepare so I guess I am only a little over halfway. But I have a lofty goal for my PR. I really do not like taking 5+ hours (6 on my first 2) for a marathon. My goal this year is 3.93 hours/ 9 min per mile. That would be a 2 min+ improvement over last year.
