Heading out for a 16 mi run tomorrow and then running a half marathon on 12/5. Hoping to maybe get to a full marathon in the spring. Any thoughts on how to keep running thru the winter?

I am a northern boy through and through. (Cincinnati) I love running in colder weather and hate running in heat and humidity. It was 30 here yesterday in Denver where IтАЩm visiting and made for a great run.
I found an article from 2015 on Runners World website. It is called тАЬWhat to wear for cold weather running.тАЭ It gives tips for what to wear in various temps. 0тАЩs, 10тАЩs, 20тАЩs etcтАж.I have followed it closely each winter and has been very helpful. I understand some like running indoors, but is not for me. Hopefully this link will take you to it. https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/a20858978/what-to-wear-for-cold-weather-training/
I feel for you when I did a marathon had to train in the winter. I bundled up with warm running clothes. I hate the treadmill but did that on really bad days.
Though in reverse [live in SW Florida], Planet Fitness [$10/mo] is an economical solution and, as Terrell has said, do it for the treadmills! I do for the summers here...
Sixteen! You are going to be more than ready! Depending on where you live -- if you live in a place like Florida or Arizona, it's probably not an issue -- but I'd say to either purchase a treadmill or get a temporary gym membership where you can run on one. Here in Atlanta where I live, it gets just cold and icy enough for about 2-3 months to make running outside a pretty tough slog. (At least if you're aiming to be consistent.) So a treadmill for me is a must. Other than that, I'd say just keep doing what you're doing -- here's some great advice from Hal Higdon, too: https://www.halhigdon.com/training-programs/more-training/winter-training/
Live in Wisconsin so I am thinking my days are numbered. We do have a treadmill, just not a big fan of running on one for long distances but will give it a go to try and keep up with my distances over the winter.
As I live in NW WI my winter training runs are slow and steady on cleats or running snow shoes........but I love being out......I think dressing correctly is the most important......make sure you do not overdress.......yet cover hands, feet, face and ears. Listen to your body if your lungs say it is to cold, it is too cold.....you may have to run short distances but then there is that day when there is no wind, the sun reflects off the snow like your personal heater and you are totally immersed in the Joy of a winter run!!!!
I am with you. Not a fan of the TM. Good to hear you can make it thru most of the winter with some outside runs. This will be my first winter trying this so hoping to run as much as possible.
I live in NY and remember when I first started - that I come November/Dec I wouldn't run until spring. How wrong I was! With the right gear, winter running rocks. It feels so good to be out there and equally good to get in a hot shower after. Agree with others - just avoid the ice/snow pile up...and below 10 to 15...I tend to skip it.

Ben thanks for the link, will give it a read. I agree I would rather run outside and hope I can make it works. Thanks for the tip.

Going to find an indoor track but until then, layer up and take on the challenge.
