I was born with a weak respiratory system. By age fourteen I decided to improve my lungs and heart, to give myself a fighting chance to live a long healthy life. It's been a rough ride, with an abusive husband in a 35 year marriage. He injured my head and spine decades ago, and starting over has become routine. I currently have a lung infection again, and I fell nearly two years ago, causing two aortal aneurysms, both broken shoulders, a broken ankle, and ultimately losing feeling in my right leg because if the location of the aneurysms. I'm a distance swimmer, distance runner, and a powerlifter. Exercise saved me from that abusive husband, by giving me time away, and it's given me back my health dozens of times. I'm finally walking again and running vicariously through you all, until I can run on my own. Never quit. Today is my little sister's unexpected funeral, but I still have hope for all of us to make the best of the short life we are given. 🙏💪💃

I was supposed to run the Great Race Half Marathon in Calabasas, CA, but I have a torn gluteus minimus muscle and my orthopedic surgeon told me that if I run, I could tear it more and that would require surgery. Haven't run in a month and feeling depressed! Starting Physical Therapy, but not for a few weeks. Walking a lot so probably aggravating it, but I can't not do anything.

I think I'm going to try to travel more over the spring/summer for races. Here in Austin, April signals the last month of running season before summer, so it's sort of the opposite of much of the country coming out of winter.
