It’s been a minute since we’ve done a Friday discussion thread, but I’ve missed hearing from you and wanted to know: how is everybody holding up? What races were you supposed to run, that have now been cancelled or postponed? How are things where you live? What are you dreaming about doing/running when this is all over? — Terrell
I honestly haven't been running in ages. :( Without in-person races, I'm just not motivated. I have been walking my dogs daily though. Aside from that, I've started some online courses, have done some deep-diving into WFH, and am just trying to find a balance between having a sensible amount of adult beverages each week and not murdering my husband. Haha
Right there with you on the adult beverages!! I saw a great post the other day -- that's there's really no more hours in the day anymore; there's "coffee time" and "wine time." And that's it. 😊
I try to follow this rule: The number of miles run in a day should be higher than the number of glasses of wine consumed. :) For long-distance runners, the rule needs modification...)
OMG, Me too! coffee, wine daily walk/run with dogs. Thankful I live in the country.
I was looking at a run/race the end of this month in Texas near Corpus Cristi along Mexican border and gulf coast. It was listed as top ten for scenic runs.
We are signed up to run the Hatfield McCoy half marathon June 13. It hasn't been cancelled yet but won't be surprised if it is, for the safety of all. We are taking to the trails here in Georgia and have had some great weather to run and hike. Our dog wonders if we're trying to walk him to death, I'm sure.
Thank you for being here for us Terrell. We're all getting through this. Even though my heart sinks when I hear how many we've lost, it rises up at the stories of sacrifice for the greater good, and the sense of comradeship I feel when we're in public. I get through by believing that someone in a higher place has this. Thanks to all of you for having my back. Love and good health to all. And may everyone find toilet paper.🤣
Thank you for being here right back, Jan! I love those thoughts, and I feel that same sense of comradeship you're talking about. People I don't even know, we've begun to recognize one another out on the roads when I run, because we're all running at the same time now (from a safe distance, to be sure!). I wish the virus wasn't the reason this is happening, but I'm finding a long-overdue opportunity to find out what's really important.
Blessings to you Jan. I do believe in my Higher Power ! We have plenty of food and TP in Michigan. And we are starting to see small bottles of hand sany return !! :-)
Reading the feed here I see that I'm certainly not alone. I've had 3 races postpone until next year which is disappointing but understandable. I feel a loss though, for sure. I'm hoping maybe Missoula will still hold (they're deciding by May 7). I'm running 4 days a week with my dog, 3-4 miles during the week and 6 or so on the weekends. Helps with my sanity since I'm WFH like the rest of the world. Honestly, I don't know what I would do without it. It's the one piece of normal I still have. Grateful to be healthy and able to do it.
I was signed up for Grandmas Marathon June 20. It’s cancelled. They are offering a virtual race but for me- my heart is just not in the training right now. I’ve done virtual races & I have nothing against them but if I’m going to run a marathon I want the full experience of the crowds, the runners, the fun! I’m still working at this time & I know I can make time to train but I’m just not feeling it. I’ll keep running because it always makes me feel better but maybe I’ll jump back into training for something this fall.
Totally hear you on the virtual race thing; I've never tried one myself, but I'm thinking of trying one this spring/summer. DEFINITELY will miss the crowds and race experience; that's such a huge part of why we do these, right? The San Francisco Marathon announced one earlier this week, though it was after I'd sent out the Wednesday newsletter. It looks interesting.
Hey EVERYONE!!! I think we all need running to keep us cheered up! I am self-employed and being hit, HARD by this! I closed my office (chiropractor) on 03/23/2020 and don't see an opening date any time soon. I feel like this, not running will not help my office reopen, it won't help the pandemic to go away any faster and it certainly won't help me do my job when I do return to it, so HECK YEA I'M RUNNING!!! I have one observation though...I am a loaner, I rarely run with anyone other than my dog. Running to me is a solo act of mental health. If you ask me to run with you, I might do it, once, but don't count on a second run...prolly not gonna happen...soooo...my normally deserted trails that I pick because they are mostly deserted are FULL of people, hahahaha!!! So, that's funny, huh?!?
It is! What you're going through makes my heart hurt, Joan. I'll definitely be thinking of you as we all go through this. I'm so glad you (and we all) have running to take our minds off it, or at least help us process it, for a little while. Your spirit and attitude in the face of this is inspiring!
I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel of what has been a very tough six months, filled with cancelled running plans. First cancer surgery (successful), then broken ankle (almost healed), and now pandemic. I'm still a bit jealous of everyone who's been able to lean in to their running during these disorienting times. BUT they/you are also inspiring me, and I'm clear to start running again at the end of this month! I just ordered some new cushiony shoes from my local running shop to try out, in anticipation of getting back in the saddle soon. Building strength until then. Stay safe and healthy, everyone.
Glad to hear that, Rebecca -- you have been through it these past 6 months, for sure! The fact that you've come through those experiences and have the spirit you do is inspiring to me. 😊
I was scheduled to run the Shamrock Half Marathon in Virginia Beach in March- that was cancelled, so I ran it on my own, on my treadmill. Also was scheduled to run Broad Street in Philly in May, but that's been moved to October (which I can't make because of another race I have scheduled in Banff). Disappointing for sure, but I consider myself lucky since I have a treadmill and I'm still able to train like I did before. Just hoping I can keep myself motivated as more time passes with no official races. Also really thankful for this group and these emails to help me feel connected!
Thank you for being a part of it, Katy! I agree, a treadmill is essential right now. Though we've had lots of nice weather lately here where I live (Atlanta), we get tons of storms that come through, especially in the spring, so it's a must-have if we want to keep running here. Can't wait to hear how the Banff race goes -- I bet it's amazing.
I’m a nurse at the other end of what most people don’t see Hosp are crazy right now Running is my peace The calm in this storm I also am thankful for my treadmill as gyms are closed shout out to all of you runners blessings and be safe Running Happy in Texas
thank you for all that u are doing! i keep seeing nurses and other hospital workers on the news and the coverage of what you are going through is very moving.
I've never been more thankful for my treadmill, both because fitness studios are closed and because it's been cold (still) in Wisconsin. I'd have a lot more trouble getting motivated to run if I had no choice but to head outside.
Even though I'm working from home and have the leisure of getting up later, I'm keeping my morning run routine (and my tread is seeing a few more miles since I've got a little extra time on my hands).
I was scheduled to run a 20k the first weekend in May and that was recently cancelled. I decided to run it virtually, so I'm still "training" as I would have. And, last Sunday marked the 6th anniversary of my first half marathon so I ran 13.1 (again, on the treadmill) to commemorate it. I achieved a PR, but of course it doesn't count ;)
For what it's worth, it counts in my book. 😊 Love the dedication and the sticking with your running routine -- I'm finding it helping me SO much through all of this too.
Running outside is one of the ONLY things holding me together mentally right now.
Still training for a race in May that we are all expecting to be cancelled when we hear officially on 4/20.
I work an essential job for city government (even though I'm more than capable of working from home) so I've been working normally since this started. I just pray that the supervisors see the light and allow those capable to work from home.
Thank goodness for nearby parks and legs that work. Stay safe out there, everyone. Make good decisions and wash your hands.
You said it all there, Haley -- I'm praying that your supervisors see the light as well. Working from home, if not already for most, will soon be non-negotiable, I'd imagine. I'm running a daily 5K and it's been one of the best things I've done through all of this.
I hope so too! If these end up going forward, in addition to the ones already scheduled for the fall (which is already a busy season for races), then we're going to have an embarrassment of riches to choose from when it comes to running. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Cap 10K in Austin TX got cancelled - for the second year in a row :( last year due to BIG thunderstorm (lots of lightning) and this year COVID-19. It would have been this Sunday 5 April. We are also no longer going to the UK next month. But, all of this has given me a chance to reset and focus on rebuilding my base slowly so my ankle can heal. I am grateful each day that I am able to move and that I'm able to enjoy my run days. Grateful to have a job that is WFH adaptable. Not all my friends and family are so fortunate. Austin is under Stay Home order for now, and we try to venture out for groceries as infrequently as possible, and we distance from others if we go out for a walk. Usually out the door by 5:15AM for runs so I don't see many others at that time, haha!
Bummed for you about the Cap 10K! But I share your feeling, too, of being grateful for what we have -- healthy legs and bodies that can keep us going, and a job where WFH is a normal way of working for us, rather than a huge adjustment. We'll get through this. 😊
Hi - yes, I was hoping to race while I was in the UK, but then all this started happening and I decided not to sign up. We booked flights way back in September but held off on booking anything else, thankfully! I hope you get to enjoy Liverpool next year :)
This time of year I mainly run 5k’s and focus the second half on half’s and a full. So I’ve missed 4 races so far. We are allowed to exercise here in Texas, so I’m good there. It’s lonely for sure. Racing gives you improvement and pushes you that’s what I miss the most. I’ve settled into daily routine to fight the solitude and boredom. Hope everyone is finding a way to make it work.
Same here. I had a really interesting conversation with a running coach yesterday about this exact topic, about what to focus on when you don't have a race to put out there as a goal. I'll post the audio soon, as I think she has some really good thoughts/approach for us all.
I was fortunate. If the L.A. marathon had been one week later, it would have been cancelled, so I got to run that. I entered the lottery for the Marine Corps Marathon and got chosen!!!! My first time ever! I’m hopeful it will go on because it’s not until the end of October. I have continued running. For now, the bike trails that run along the nearby river beds are still open and though they’re a bit busier, I can go a long way without seeing anyone and social distancing is not a problem. I hope they remain open. Many trails in the L. A. area were closed. I’m a nurse at a community hospital so running keeps me sane and (hopefully) healthy. Stay healthy you all!
Still running. Actually more running. I decided that since life is totally changed, I’d flip the switch to a plant based diet, I’ve lost about 10 pounds, and may even get to see my abs in a few weeks. This makes my wife happy, since my 50 something year old guy paunch has taken years to acquire.
It sounds like vegetarian, but it’s not. I gave up red meats about 20 years ago. I still eat some chicken and fish, but removed dairy. No cheese, milk, or other dairy. Mostly veggies, whole grains, healthy proteins, and fruit. I make my own hummus because hoarders are generally too lazy to open a can and mix stuff.
We were supposed to run Flying Pig in Cincinnati but it was moved to October. We took the deferral option and will try again next May. I was okay with this as I wasn't going to be able to run the half as I am just now starting to run a little after fracturing my ankle in December. I have been working from home for the past 3 weeks and I have still been going out to the park on Saturdays to walk/run with a couple of friends. We are keeping distance between us. I am going out to the store about once a week to pick up groceries and other essentials, and we pick up carry out on Friday evening to help support our local restaurants. Its tough having our run group cancelled for the foreseeable future as it is a significant socializing activity for my husband and myself. I just want to be able to see my friends again and run with my group. I am also worried about my trip to Germany scheduled for September to run the Berlin Marathon. If it is cancelled I am hopeful that I can just moved everything to 2021.
Good morning! We have been working (categorized as essential business) but yesterday an employee's husband tested positive for the virus, so she was sent home and everything scrubbed down. Starting Monday we are on a 30-day leave of absence, which works out perfectly since we're moving houses and have to vacate this one on April 30. Have to drive carloads to new place since we can't get a moving truck. Going to weed out and throw away as much as possible so that will keep us busy. Except for two days of intense storms when it was too dangerous to go out running, been keeping up the 5K a Day. One half marathon canceled at beginning of May we're going to do as virtual race, one marathon canceled at middle of May we're deferring. Keep looking ahead is my motto, so I registered for a marathon in October and starting this week to train for it. There are two others (September and November) that I'm planning on doing. By having specific goals, it adds a sense of relevance and urgency to the training, so each workout session is less likely to be skipped. I think setting goals and maintaining routines are helpful goals to get through anything, from a crisis all the way down to monotony or "don't feel like it" days. Happy running to everyone!! ~ Faith
Right back at you, Faith! You'll be in my thoughts for sure -- so sorry to hear about your husband's employee! Love that you're sticking with your goals and keeping focused on them, I think those are wise words for us all. 😊
My husband & I we’re suppose to run the Toronto full marathon May 3.
I must say I’m a little irritated that we’re not getting a refund! We have forfeited many race registrations in the past & understand its typically nonrefundable. But in this unprecedented time I would think they would just refund the runners (I could accept a $5-10 processing fee). With the anxiety of lost income & bills to pay I was hoping the running world would take care of its runners!
I appreciate the free registration next year but I actually hope to run Pittsburgh next year with my running partner who’s battling cancer this year! And I’m not a fan of virtual runs... I run all the time on my own no money, no shirt, no medal required! If I’m getting the medal/shirt for Toronto I want to know I ran the Toronto with other runners & the camaraderie & joy of the race experience!
I don’t mean to sound bitter I understand race registration policies but I was hoping this time of health & economic fear would be an exception. No matter I love running... it’s my happy place! 😊
I hear you, Pam! It's my happy place too 😊 I think we're all trying to figure all of this out, including race directors; if their events are big, well-capitalized ones (like Boston and the New York Road Runners races), they usually can afford to provide refunds. The smaller ones, I know, have a much harder time doing that. It's a tough call all around.
Inspired by another reader, I booked and paid for a half marathon each month this year. I got to run January (Pasadena Half Marathon) and February (Disney World Princess Challenge —yay!) but March through May have cancelled. I do my training on the gym treadmill and that is closed, so have taken my running outside. Did not realize how much more hard on the body street running is! Now everything hurts and I may have to just stop until the gym reopens.
My half marathon was supposed to be on March 28 and a 2 mile shuffle on the 29 was cancelled but now they are thinking of rescheduling it. The May half I am pretty sure will also be cancelled so I don't really have a "goal" to be working towards. I am pretty self motivated until recently. I am in NH and the weather has been crazy! 60's then 30's and now rain. The days I am supposed to run and it's windy and cold I have been doing the insanity videos, pretty ironic! I am still working as I work for a municipality and not stuck at home, fortunately. I am looking for what you folks that are still working doing for motivation to keep going right now. Thanks! Hope everyone is staying healthy!
Still keeping on my race schedule even though the 30 miler over in Eastern Washington I was supposed to run tomorrow is now cancelled. I'm still going to run 30 miles just out on the Burke Gilman/Sammamish Trail in Seattle instead. The race got postponed until November so I'll probably upgrade to the 50 miler. I've also been cycling a lot more than I normally do, but that's just in case I decide to sign up for an Iron Man this fall (I'm still waiting to see how everything pans out). I can't wait for races to be back. I miss race starts, finishes, expos, everything.
I miss them too, Judith. All the people, the camaraderie, the amazing scenery and places to run through; I know we’ll all appreciate it so much more when this is all over. Very impressed with your dedication, btw — enjoy your 30-miler tomorrow, I bet the trail will be a lot of fun!
I had signed up for three runs this spring: the Rock 'n' Roll Half in DC, the Boulder to Boulder 10K and the Steamboat 10K. The first two are both rescheduled for Labor Day. As of March 20, the Steamboat run was still on, but they are allowing deferrals for 2021. More than ever, running is sanity.
I'm doing sanity runs in the neighborhood at least 3 times a week and walking on other days. I did a virtual half 2 weeks ago and plan to do another tomorrow morning, plus more in the future if we're still under stay at home here orders in Maryland. I suspect all future races I've registered for already will be either deferred or converted to virtual runs.
i was supposed to run pittsburgh half in may (cancelled and they gave a full refund!) and a few 10Ks in april and may which have all been postponed. i'm not signing up for anything else until this is over. on the plus i'm getting an extra workout in during the week since the gym is out, and i'm still able to do social distance runs with my running partner. i'm in better shape now because of covid, go figure!
Hello Everyone. Thankfully we are able to communicate in more ways than one. I signed up for a Marathon for 4/26. I’m very disappointed in a sense of, my not being able to complete my goal. However, I fully understand people lives are at risk. I only have a bike in my house, and only like running outdoors alone .
My ShamRock’n 1/2 marathon in Sacramento was cancelled, Oakland Marathon was cancelled, and Bay2Breakers in San Francisco has been cancelled. I’m hoping the Steve Prefontaine Memorial Run will still be held in September in Coos Bay Oregon and the Portland Marathon in October. In the meantime I’m starting to enjoy my road bike more here in Sacramento. Also lots of snowshoeing in Tahoe National Forest. Be Safe and Stay Sane!
I had a half marathon in Lake of the Ozarks MO, Bridge to Dam, cancel and go virtual. Since I am injured I was not going to race anyway but was going to go down and enjoy the weekend.
I have been enjoying going for walks outside and have the itch to start running. I’m listening to my body though and know I’m not ready yet. 😔
I am doing great ! My community is very safe. People are social distancing. I live in Michigan- so we are on a statewide ' shelter' enforcement. But we can still run ! The parks are very busy. I see dog walkers, runners, walkes, bike riders, skateboarders, etc. ; It's so important to stay active. it's also important to maintain your mental health. I am forcing myself to laugh ! I am blessed with my health. I am coming off an injury- and I feel very good ! I really am enjoying the sunshine. My races are deferred to the Fall, so I will be busy then. Stay safe and blessed every one :-D
My husband and I had two half marathons planned in the month of May. The first one postponed. We were given the option of doing it in November or running it virtually in an area of our choosing. We will run it virtually. The second one also postponed but we don't have a new day for it. We still go out about 4 times /week to run. He likes going to the trails. I run in some neighborhoods that are rather scenic. Very few people around and easy to social distance. We also try to work out at home as well: Weights, yoga and an elliptical. We are rather blessed. I started running today wearing a mask. It's a challenge but a necessary one these days. We are praying for all our fellow runners that you stay safe, physically, mentally and emotionally.
I have to say that I am doing the mile or more/day with your group but I can’t seem to figure out how to join it. I will also say that I work in a hospital and things change daily and it is so stressful. I am a dietitian and needed when things are rough but right now we are in a holding pattern. This is unprecedented territory and I hope for the best every day. Thank you so much for this group we have. It is instrumental for my sanity. Thank you!! Thank you!!!
I’ve lost three. The first was a 10k on the Fort Eustis Army base. Disappointing because I was looking forward to running with the troops. The second was the Heroes Bridge 5k in Remmington VA. Really disappointing because it was for helping Vietnam veterans in need, and happened to be exactly on the 47th anniversary of my return from Vietnam. I really wanted to honor my fallen brothers and sisters. Both were milestones on my trainup for the Football Hall of Fame half on April 28. Now cancelled, but they were kind enough to defer the entry til next year.
Next target is the Kings Dominion half in Richmond. That’s not yet cancelled and right at the end of the governor’s current stay home order. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I have had to run two virtual races so far I have at least one more on the schedule. The first I ran the course without support as it was all on public streets. The second I did on a local rail to trail as an out and back. I have one more that I am going to do the distance on that day as that is what I have been training for but they rescheduled the race far enough out that the milage matches the training cycle. As I am all about the miles not the time that works for me. The next statement is going to drive my race director friends crazy. I have a few that I do every year but until I know that they are actually going to be run. I am not committing to them. I might just donate the money to the cause and do the miles and skip the shirt. I am still doing miles outside but now I have to be concerned about where as they are starting to take away the parks and paths because we as humans can't follow directions, and stay 6 feet apart.
I'm hoping to get back to running this weekend. Since the Flying Pig was cancelled and I work in the food distribution business I have not had motivation or time to run for the last two weeks. I'm going to try and do about 90% of my training schedule this weekend and see what happens. I hope everyone is staying safe and keeping up on their running.
I bet you've been busy, incredibly busy even. Totally understand where you're coming from, and good luck with running this weekend -- stay safe as well!
It's been tough! I've tried to embrace the fact that I don't have any actual races coming up and I can just go on runs that I will enjoy not that I have to do. One of my friends recommended this episode on sports psychology of a cycling podcast (don't worry, not too much on cycling and I would recommend it too): https://www.velonews.com/2020/03/training/fast-talk-ep-102-performance-psychology-with-julie-emmerman-and-payson-mcelveen_508038. One of the things they talked about in it was that you need to love the process, not just races. I thought of that a lot because sometimes I don't! So I'm trying to remember what I love about running and just enjoy my time outside.
With that said, I have about 6 races that got canceled or delayed and I'm really worried that summer and fall races are also going to get canceled. I know there are way more important things than racing, but it is something I love. I'm glad they are making the right decisions to keep everyone safe, but I'm still sad.
Thanks so much for sharing that, Jennifer! I'll definitely check it out. And on the races, I'm sad there with you -- but they will come back. I have no idea when, but they will. 😊
I would love to read those though:) Very soon. Hope we all can - stay healthy everyone!
And not just history books. I've already used it in my classes - this morning I started Forecasting and Time-series - right to the point. Working on the Simulation project now to include some of that crazy data/distribution to see how to make sense out of it.
everything around me (connecticut) has been cancelled. So not training for anything, just making sure I get outside for jogs and walks for my mental health. I'm glad I hadn't preregistered for anything yet. I wonder if Hartford will be on this October (marathon).
Doing fine so far. Actually running more since my gym is closed. Signed up for the Skyline Half in Dallas for the 25th. Now virtual. Ran a half this past Sunday, may download that time is if don’t do another by race time.
i've been training for the chicago marathon in october and must admit my motivation has dipped just slightly. i know it's temporary as all of our routines have changed dramatically. i really appreciate this platform-it shows me that i'm not alone in my feelings. thank you so much!
The best part of my day is running. I live in CA and I always run along the ocean, the beauty does wonders for my mood. Makes life almost feel normal for a bit. Ran 8 miles today and then hiked 4.5 later with my husband and two Goldens. As long as I can continue to get outside, I'll be okay. My 21 Big Sur Miler scheduled for April 26 was, of course, canceled so I will be doing my own 21 mile run in Monterey, yes, along the ocean!
I've been holding up all right. Things could definitely be worse. I am scheduled to run a half marathon in July. It hasn't been canceled yet, but we'll see how things go. I'm based in San Francisco, and we just extended the shelter in place order. While I still run on weekdays on a less crowded street, I am starting to get anxious about running long distances on weekends as there are likely to be more people out and about. When this is all over, I look forward to seeing my family and friends again.
I had four Dust Bowl Mainly Marathons postponed for March, the Indy 500 half postponed and Brew City in Wisconsin postponed as well. That would have given me 6 of my 50 states. Bummed but at least they all did let us use toward next years’ registration.
I am thankful to be able to work from home but with ALL my kids now being homeschooled, it’s rough so running is my peace and quiet. I’m still keeping up my 100 miles a month so that gives me a goal to maintain. I ran 30 miles the last three days of March because I got sick mid-last week.
I’m grateful for this little community of co-runners and pray we will all come through this better than we came into it.
I had been registered for two Spring races: Scranton Half in March and Gettysburg Blue-Gray Half in April. Both have been cancelled, although Gettysburg has been rescheduled to October. I am amazed by how upsetting this has been to me.
I continue to run 4-5 times a week but have really backed my mileage down. I am hoping that some of the summer races on the calendar still remain.
Thank you for this site as it gives me a place to keep the running juices flowing. Keep up the good work.
I'm extremely fortunate that I live right next to a beautiful stretch of Pacific coastline in the Monterey area, great for running, biking and even kayaking. (I've been able to do all three as this is my "place" to shelter.) Mostly though, I'm missing my visits to our local Sport Center where I swim and take exercise classes. One of these days...
All things considered. Doing really well. I have my health. I continue to run. My March 21st race was postponed, but I still got out there and did 13.1 solo miles. My April 11th half was cancelled, but still training and will geterdone next weekend.
I work in public health/healthcare emergency management, and it's been intense this last month. As one of the hospital CEOs said in a previous meeting on how they were doing "It's the calm before the storm"
Running is keeping my routine intact, and while stressful, I am grateful to have employment and have a sens of purpose. It's not easy at all, but I am doing the best I can, which is all any of us can do.
Holding up pretty good in Raleigh NC. The weather has been beautiful and great to run in. The pollen has made the distance runs difficult, but every second in the sun sweating is welcomed! Just need to keep on track so that I can hopefully run my first full marathon sometime this year!
The only race I have left this Spring is a virtual half hosted by a friend in Washington state. Being in NH, I wouldn't have been able to do the 'real' race, so this gives me a chance to participate and support the beneficiary. I'm still working out about 6 days a week and, being a racewalker, and without any other upcoming races, I'm using the time to focus on form and technique and to just enjoy being outside. I'm usually out predawn, when there is very little traffic. However, there is even less traffic now, and I'm appreciating having the roads almost to myself and some local wildlife. I'm also tracking my mileage with some online virtual journeys and teams, which also helps keep me motivated. I'm working from home, and doing a lot of conference calls and video meetings. I'm part of a team that hosts a half in November, and I'm hoping we'll be back to normal by then, but I also know there are no guarantees. So, even this far out, we're exploring all our options, just to be prepared for whatever we have to deal with. Stay safe - wash your hands!
And there’s “whine” time!
Yep, that sums things up lately! 😄
Me too. Crazy time.🏃🏻♀️🍷
OMG, Me too! coffee, wine daily walk/run with dogs. Thankful I live in the country.
I was looking at a run/race the end of this month in Texas near Corpus Cristi along Mexican border and gulf coast. It was listed as top ten for scenic runs.
You made my day! 😂
😂
That's a FACT -
Amen, Terrell.
Blessings to you Jan. I do believe in my Higher Power ! We have plenty of food and TP in Michigan. And we are starting to see small bottles of hand sany return !! :-)
👍 I'm glad to hear it.
It looks interesting.
i actually just looked this race up as i've never heard of it. looks fun...sucks that they aren't doing refunds or deferrals.
We are all rowing the same crappy boat!!! I will get through it, WE will get through it!
👍
I’m a nurse at the other end of what most people don’t see Hosp are crazy right now Running is my peace The calm in this storm I also am thankful for my treadmill as gyms are closed shout out to all of you runners blessings and be safe Running Happy in Texas
Me too Deb. If I didn’t run on my days off, I couldn’t face going back in.😭
thank you for all that u are doing! i keep seeing nurses and other hospital workers on the news and the coverage of what you are going through is very moving.
We definitely don't, Deb, you are SO right. I can only imagine what your experience is like -- running is my peace too right now. 😊
👍
Counts in my book too!
That is a fantastic idea! A 5k a day keeps the virus away...isn't that how the old adage goes?
Another race cancelled. At least we can participate in virtual race options. I am hoping my three fall races are not cancelled. Remaining optimistic.
Yes, we will!
Were you going to UK race? Just curious because my Liverpool half on May 24th was moved to October, but I chose an option for the next year.
I am in Texas as well. Lonely star:) Or I would say "lonely stars" about all of us at this point. "Running lonely stars" - how about that?
Right back at you, Maria! You're brave to be on the front lines of this, here's to hoping for nothing but good health for you right back!
Still running. Actually more running. I decided that since life is totally changed, I’d flip the switch to a plant based diet, I’ve lost about 10 pounds, and may even get to see my abs in a few weeks. This makes my wife happy, since my 50 something year old guy paunch has taken years to acquire.
That's awesome, Bob! Any particular diet/program you're following, or have you simply cut out meat/chicken?
Hello Terrell & running friends!
Try and run/ walk. See if you can also get on asphalt instead of concrete.
Was supposed to have run the Malaga half marathon on the 22 March.
In Gibraltar we can still go out to exercise so I’m good 😊
We’re on social lockdown
So you live in Gibraltar, then? (It's fascinating to me to see where our readers live; I'm in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.)
Still running!
Marathon I was supposed to run in at the end of this month in Ohio was cancelled. Still training as if it's still happening.
20k trail race in June in Texas still has not been cancelled yet. Doesn't look promising, but hoping it will still happen.
As for when this isn't all over, definitely want to sign up and train for another 50k trail race.
Right now just very grateful of my health and able to still get out and run.
Keep soldiering through everyone.
Get out there, but mindful of others and be safe!
I hope it's not cancelled too, Nick! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Right there with you, Yoli!
Thank you. This groups is a lifeline for me. Thank you thank you
Thank you, Karen, for being a part of it!
Thank you for this community
👍
This will be in the history books!
Keep at it Sarah!
Keep sane and stay safe out there
Doing fine so far. Actually running more since my gym is closed. Signed up for the Skyline Half in Dallas for the 25th. Now virtual. Ran a half this past Sunday, may download that time is if don’t do another by race time.
Ran a virtual Terrapin Mountain 1/2 Marathon two weeks ago and again last Saturday just to prove the mountain hadn’t moved.
Planning to run a 10k + 5k road each week to keep tuned and starting to cycle this weekend.
Glad the mountain didn't move! 😊
i've been training for the chicago marathon in october and must admit my motivation has dipped just slightly. i know it's temporary as all of our routines have changed dramatically. i really appreciate this platform-it shows me that i'm not alone in my feelings. thank you so much!
My first 1/2 was for May 3. Now doing a it as a virtual 1/2...on Sunday🤗. Nervous & anxious & excited!!!!
Excited to work my job without continuous PPE!!!! 🏥
