I decided that this year I would concentrate on getting into the best shape since I stopped being overly competitive years ago. I try to make training fun... forget looking air the time, look at how many miles you enjoyed running. People ask, how you can lace up or throw a leg over a bike everyday and not get bored. I like a lot of runners always have something going on in my head... a good music playlist on my watch or an audio book on my I-phone. I'm lucky that I'm retired and can run anytime of the day... that in itself is something most people can't do... rain at 6:30am.. no problem, 10 or 12 will still work. With very few in person races, I've been racing on my own looking to the day I've gotten my shots out of the way... Last week I ran my own 5K... 8.07 MPM.. I was both elated and sad.. 8 seconds per mile less and I'd be in the sevens again... Today I pushed it... 7.47 MPM.... I'm over the top... My work in the gym and on the road has given me something Covid can't take away... a smile from ear to ear and plans for pushing the limits again this fall when the weather gets cool again...
