Morning, friends! ☀️ It’s (slightly) unseasonably chilly here in Atlanta this first Friday of June, which I’ll gladly take as we no doubt have plenty of sweltering weather ahead of us here this summer.
For this morning’s thread discussion, I thought I’d throw out a question I love to ask, as it shows how far and wide we all hail from — over the years, I’ve heard from readers in just about every state, plus Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Jerusalem, Tajikistan, India, Italy, France, Poland, Lithuania… the list goes on and on and on.
And, since so many new people have joined over the past week — thanks to THM being featured in Substack’s The Weekender — I wanted to say welcome and ask everyone, newly joined or longtime members:
Where are you from/where do you live, and
Where is your favorite place, or your favorite distance, to run?
I’ll start in the comments, and I really look forward to hearing what you have to share 😀 — Terrell

Nevada City, California. Love to run trails 5-6 miles.
To kick us off, in case it wasn’t obvious (!) I live in Atlanta, Ga., a city that’s of course in the south and yet not quite part of it — it’s very much its own distinctive place. My favorite distances lately are 5Ks and 10Ks, and longtime readers here know where I love most to run, the trails up and down our Chattahoochee River national park areas.
