I feel this so completely. Friday is my last day of work until January 8, but my mind is already on vacation. Focus is shot, and I spend too much time daydreaming about the way Lake Tahoe smells when you’re standing (or running 😉) in the late afternoon shadows of the trees right before it snows.
Speaking as someone who spent the past year navigating cancer treatments with her spouse, I say, take the time off. Unplug. Close the lid. Write only if the mood strikes and not on a deadline. We are not promised tomorrow.
Nothing is more important than the memories you make with the people you love and who love you in return. We will be here in your lovely corner of the internet, right where we always are. ♥️🎄🥂🥰
Yes, just be with all you love. The striving to get somewhere will eventually lead you back to “being with all you love”. I think you already know that Terrell…at least your heart does. Merry, merry….♥️
Silly opinion, but I think that the "Christmas Rush" started way too early this year! (Seems to me i was in July up here in the PacNW!). You are not alone--no wonder we have no pizazz left, nor can we think of anything to catch our interest. Sitting by the river seems like a pretty good occupation to me, even tho it is usually part of my summer routine.
I sewed the ear back on the cat's mouse yesterday. Believe it or not, she was very, very grateful. It is her favorite toy now. Pretty amazing considering she had forgotten about it. My daughter and her friend just
scoffed and were going to throw mouse and ear out because it cost so little. A little time, care and love goes a long way. People forget the personal touch with all the things their minds get to/have to cope with nowadays. I hope you get the Lego toy out of it's box soon to transform it into a flying jet..
In the meantime, it is sunny, in the 50s here. The weather does not change very much, nor do the hills go away. Sun Return is in a week! Can you believe it! The days will be getting longer and we can start planning for a Spring meet-up somewhere.
Take care, enjoy your time off!
PS. If you ever have a cat. . . which I don't. . . get a Maine Coon kitty. . . they are just like a Golden Retriever only in cat form! Our neighbor has two and the are the most affectionate cats I have ever fun into. . .and I am a bird person! :)
I totally feel this message. Thank you for the gentle reminder to be calm and enjoy life. I’ll be watching the river flow with alongside you in my head since I don’t have any here in Kansas. What a beautiful picture! Keep them coming….
Thanks, Jennie! I'm going to try to make it a habit in the new year to take more photos like this one -- to be more observant of the world around me. :)
What a timely and relevant message. Sometimes we have just that, the quietness of solitude. I think we forget just how comforting it can be and we overlook it. On the other hand, spending quality time with family is everything. It's the love for me! I spent last training season doing a lot of solo long run, it was both rewarding and deafening. In the end, the runs with company had the most joy, so get into that box, building memories that will last a life time.
Watching the river flow or the waves caressing the shore or the leaves dancing in the breeze or the snowflakes drifting to the ground are always a good use of your time. Thanks for the great letter.

Thank you, my friend! Hopefully we'll get to meet up at one of our in-person get-togethers in the new year. I'd really love that.
Me too!!!!!
Beautiful picture
Thanks, Kimberly!
We are all tired. It’s hard to be creative when we need to rest. Hang in there! Thanks for the beautiful picture!
I love this!

Agree
One line I have been using in my meditation practice: there is no-one standing on the riverbank, only the river.
be like writing on water. . . ;)

I was going to say that the pictures you take of that river make me want to be there.

Very calming
Grab your son and put together that Millennium Falcon, it deserves to be outta that box! Have a great holiday!
I know! We're going to do it over the next 2 weeks. Check back with me on it!
I’m not a very good solo runner. Seems weekends are my only runs.
