As I age (76) I know I need the energy of this group to get me out the door in December…so I am grateful Terrell for this challenge and look forward to starting 2024 with 50 running miles & 50 walking miles in my Future Life Bank. ( where my miles accrue healthy interest to be spent down, hopefully, many years from now). Thank you All 👣🙌👣
Walk and run. . . good way to spend time while it is cold.
Been taking "Ol' Hick" with me. . . walking sticks do wonders while climbing uphill and down. . . found out even ultra runners use them. A great invention and certainly not one to shy away from just because you think you are a "runner!" :)
No, if the roads aren't plowed I head to a park where they keep the trail plowed which is great. I don't have a treadmill so I'm happy I have this option.
Great idea! Last week after a fun Turkey Trot with the whole family I set a goal of running every day from Thanksgiving till Christmas... and broke it two days later. This is my chance for a do-over! :)
I was doing good towards my goal until August--just lost interest in long runs once it got really hot. Didn’t run my annual marathon this month, so the miles just didn’t pile up like usual in the fall. Hopefully this will help keep me motivated.
Garden of Life Palm Beach half marathon … if you’re not looking at some beautifully-landscaped properties, you’re looking at the Intracoastal Waterway. This race also features wacky water stops … where the volunteers at each stop dress up (or down) to a theme!
I LOVE this idea. I've been "meaning" to get running again for way too long. I will do a very entry level goal--but I'm a gal who loves accountability. So this is a great way to start....
I'll be out walking! Finished the Book of Kel. I can easily identify with the type of runner he was. If you get a chance read it. . . a bunch of short storied and recollections. . . a marathoner who ran for fun and enjoyment, not miles.
Still walking the hills (they don't go away, nor does the fog).
Tuning up slowly for April. . .training for a half marathon in the Spring!
It is fairly new.. . . Copyright in 2020 by the John J Kelley Memorial Foundation. Edited by Amby Burfoot and Gail Kislevitz.. It isn't a fast read by any means, but one you can read, muse over and say to yourself, "I wish I had known this man!"
Now I'm reading Out and Back by Hillary Allen. . . another sky runner who came back after severe injury. Winter is a good time for reading! :)
Would love to join you guys all the way from Saigon, Vietnam. I am recovering from sciatica and must say my running and core mobility helped a lot to put me in shape again. Won’t go nuts this month but 100km could be nice milestone to get in shape for my Paris Marathon training blocks 😜
I'm committing to 75 miles by 12/31/23. This will motivate me to get ready for my training that starts in January for an April 2024 trail race in the Columbia River Gorge. Thanks for putting this together Terrell.

Clark, it wouldn’t be the same without you -- so glad you’re in! (And I love the combination of walking and running -- I may do the same thing 🤔)

I'm up for an easy run of 90 miles... Setting a goal keeps me from not lacing up my shoes and getting out there.
Same here! You all motivate me — knowing that I’m on the hook for 80 or 90 miles is an excellent spark to go run.
I’ll take the 100 miles
That’s what I like to hear!!
Hi Terrell,
It looks like this in Central NY! :) We got a storm last night. First snow run and my trail sneakers worked great over the ice, slush and snow.
Nice, Julie! Do you run differently in the snow?
Not really...maybe slower. LOL

Hey!
I'm in for the París half in March. Count me in for 100!!
Awesome, Sandra! 🙌 (Is that the half in Paris, France?)
Yes it is! Been aiming for 2 years... life is now cooperating!
Great idea! Last week after a fun Turkey Trot with the whole family I set a goal of running every day from Thanksgiving till Christmas... and broke it two days later. This is my chance for a do-over! :)
Exactly! Every day is another chance to turn it all around 🙌
Count me in - 100km! Looking forward to the festive runs in December 😊!
Glad you’re in, Donna!
So fun!! YES - count me in! I will do 100 km!
Awesome, Alex!! 👏 So glad to hear it
I’m in! I need 130 miles to hit 1200 for the year,
Russell, you are a madman!!! I love it 🙌

75 miles ... includes a half on 12/10.
Which half on the 10th?

Amazon has it. It was recommended by one of your readers on the Half Marathoner a few issues ago.

Welcome aboard, Diana! Hope you’ve been well!
Well and DEEP into edits of my manuscript: Read: Not showering exercising--or any other normal person activities. :)
I can’t wait to read it when you’re done!

Nice! I’ve never heard of the Book of Kel -- is it recently published? And yes, we will start training soon for April!!
