So do we get a gold star on our summer reading chart for each book we finish? :-)

I'm in but I hope to find them in audiobooks... like to listen to books while I work outside or at the gym... can run with music in my ears, but not books...

I'm in! I've already read Lost City of Z and Killers of the Flower Moon was already on my list for the summer. I love books about shipwrecks and mutinies, so The Wager will fit right in.

Just returned from my first track workout since Covid began. The perfectly measured 440 high school track is always my moment of truth. First it focuses me on the task at hand. Other than a red tail hawk majestically flying overhead, I only had eyes on the innermost lane as I labored to complete a quarter mile without stopping. Although breathless at the finish, I was not in pain. The 2:15 result indicated I still had some speed at 76 to ultimately run a sub 8:30 mile by this Sept. Second, the digital watch cleanly displayed the elapsed time. There was no ambiguity. The result can be disappointing but it is not debatable. I love that. My daily walk/runs are different. They are scenic and allows the eye & mind to wander at a leisurely pace. It is my moving meditation. The track, however is my moment of truth. Just me, my lane and the stopwatch. Although Keats was meditating on a Grecian Urn when he wrote “Beauty is truth, truth beauty”, I felt his words when I crossed the finish line in 2:15.

I’m in too! I just downloaded The Wager on audiobook. I’m already physically reading How To Walk Away and I won’t have time to do both.

I’m fine with however we do the discussions. What day are doing it?

There was a long waitlist on Libby through my local library, but the reading running gods were smiling on me today with a note in my inbox. I’m in, too!

I'm definitely in! I opened my computer to look up books to listen to since I just finished one last night, but decided to go through my emails first. So glad I did! THANKS!

Interesting, as kids, we never had a summer reading program. "My Weekly Reader" came in the mail every week. We got "Children's Digest" and "Boys Life" as subscriptions. The articles and the covers still stick in my head today. Oddly enough, "My Weekly Reader" was right on in predicting how life is today. . . Scary, isn't it? And this was back in the 1950s.

Mom was an avid library goer and reader, so we were never without books and we all became bibliophiles!

The book selection looks good. I read "Killers of the Flower Moon" when it first came out . . . on a plane coming back from a court date in Las Vegas. I have no preference in books. . .don't even know if I'll get to them, though I will try. . . see what the library has available. My daughter closed on her house yesterday in Eugene, Or, so we may be moving out of Redmond WA. soon. . .

Cloudy and cool again today. No rain in sight, though we really need it. Spent my day at the eye doctor yesterday. . . I'll be out shopping today. Looks like the Farmer's Market is open Saturday. Have to go see what is in. It's early in the season, but I'll check it out. Nothing like fresh produce!! :)

Library memories. So nostalgic . Nothing looks, sounds, and especially, smells like a library/bookstore. I could live in one.

My daughter and I worked together in the Academic Library at North Dakota State School of Science. We were just discussing it this morning and comparing it to working in an office. There is nothing like being part of the library staff. No sleeping on the job while shelving books on automotive repair. . . one digit off and you've blown the whole shelf! I love library work, but not in a public library setting and probably not today. We were just bringing the card catalogue online. . . what an adventure. I know just what you mean! :)

Not my usual reading preferences, but I need to stretch myself. I’ll try them!
