In Las Vegas, NV, we have a beltway (freeway) that goes around the city that has a paved trail. Its right at the foot of the mountains and has an amazing view of the city. It has been my favorite place to run, and the pandemic has not altered that. The best thing is that there are many more people running, walking, riding speed bikes and families riding together. We keep our distance and greet one another. It's a nice camaraderie.

Donna—I live in Las Vegas too! I live on the East side & run in my neighborhood. I wish I lived on the outskirts of Henderson or the West side, where I could find quieter roads/trails to run on.

The areas I usually run at and call my personnel play ground now has a lot of people out and about. I think it is great seeing all the people out on the streets walking, biking and running. I love how America has responded to this pandemic by getting healthier I only hope that it continues.

As I was running down a hill, I passed a lady & her daughter struggling to walk up the hill. (In normal times I rarely see anyone on this hilly street.) I encouraged them to keep going. I passed them again going up the hill as they were finishing at the top. The woman looked at me & said, “We’re beginners!”

I smiled & told her I was a beginner once too. Don’t give up.

She asked me how I started running/what I did. I shared what I had done & encouraged her to keep at it.

Guess who I see every Saturday now on that hill? Her! She has dragged her whole family along now. (I can’t say they look as happy as she does.) She is kicking butt & able to run more than walk now. I’m so proud of her. It makes my heart happy! She always has a huge smile on her face when she sees me. Love it!!!

Serendipitous! Happy to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right attitude. Hope she keeps it up.

I wish more people would run and walk. I love saying hi to people I pass, even in my big city. :0)

I'm with you, Jim -- it's inspiring to see so many people take charge of their physical and mental health in all of this. I hope it continues too.

So glad for the reminder that "we get to do this". I was injured for about 8 months, and running was very difficult. Fortunately, that time has passed, and now I value being able to run even more!
