The July Running Challenge
Let's run towards a goal together, starting today
Good morning/afternoon, friends! ☀️
It’s the first day of July, a month with 31 days, which means it’s perfect for another of our running challenges — in which we each pick a goal that gets us excited, whether that’s running every single day or running a goal mileage for the month, whether that’s 50 miles, 80 miles, 100 miles or more, or any other goal that you find inspires and motivates you to lace up your shoes and get out the door.
The last time we did this, in May, my goal was to run 100 miles by the 31st of the month. I fell a little short, completing just over 80 miles — but even though I did, shooting for the goal spurred me to run with a consistency I hadn’t in a long time, which was really my purpose for doing it.
This time, I’m going to shoot for 90 miles — that feels doable to me, is a stretch from what I accomplished in May, and I know will feel great to actually accomplish this time.
Keep in mind, any goal you set is arbitrary; there’s no right or wrong answer — just what’s right for you.
What is a meaningful goal to you? What — once you complete it on July 31st — would give you a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction? Let that be your guide.
I hope you’re able to go out there and get in a great run today — I’ll be posting daily check-ins in our subscriber chat, which will look like this:
These will appear each morning by 8:00 a.m. ET in the Chat area of the Substack app — I’ll also experiment with sending them out to our Strava group too (if I can figure that out!).
If you’ve never visited our Chat before, just click/tap here and you’ll be taken directly to it:
That’s really it — I’m excited to get this month’s challenge started alongside you, and to see where it takes us all. That’s the fun part, after all.
Until tomorrow, figure out what your goal is, and have a great run out there — and feel free to reach out with any questions!
