I had the pleasure of doing my first Prairie Fire Half Marathon in Wichita last October. It was a pleasant surprise. It is easy to fly into Wichita. There was a lot to do in Wichita. The beautiful entertainment complex had concerts. The marathon was a joy, followed by food and music. There was a street festival. The weather was perfect. Wichita has good public transportation. A beautiful river flows through Wichita. There are many museums in Wichita. I recommend the Prairie Fire Half Marathon in Wichita.
Rats! Any other day and I would be there. I’m just 35 minutes away in williamsburg. Unfortunately, I’m already committed to the Veterans Day run and associated events in Williamsburg that day. Will there be any social events in addition to the run? If so, I would love to participate.
That looks like a great race but I can’t afford another flight this year. I could do Wichita Fire, only a 2.5 hour drive for me. I’ll stay open for next year, if we plan on doing one meetup a year
Hi Terrell, I was just talking about this race over the weekend (Richmond). I'm 50/50 at this point but you may have just tipped the scales in favor of running it!
I would love to join you but I’ve already signed up to do the Monumental Half in Indianapolis the last week of October. My daughter is running the Monumental Marathon (her second) and she’s asked me to run the half as a quasi mother-daughter event. Maybe next year but looking forward to staring the 12 week training plan soom!
Wow this sounds to tempting. I have a friend in Richmond that has been asking me to visit for years now😂 I'll wait to see how my first half in September turn out
It would be so cool to meet in real life, Minh! I totally understand if you decide not to -- running two halfs in two months is a lot -- but if you feel like it, I'd love to have you be a part of this!
Sorry, Terrell! I knew you'd jump at the idea of the Richmond Half when it came across in Chat the other day! A team of horses could not drag me to the East coast, nor East of the Mississippi. West coast runner here, Maybe, possibly Portugal?(hint) for a meet-up as one of your global subscribers suggested.
Seems meet-ups are getting fairly common. Chi Running is having one in Memphis for St. Jude on December 2nd. Not going to that either. I've seen several other meet-ups for runners, too!
Myself, once we get moved to Oregon, I'm signed up for the City to the Sea in San Luis Obispo on the 12 of November. A little bit warmer, close to Pismo Beach. Do have fun. I'm sure you'll have a big gathering! I'll be in touch . . . take care!)
I totally get it, Nilima! Coast-to-coast is a LONG way to travel. I'd love to do these on alternating coasts, twice a year, or at least other locations that would make it easier for people to get to. I've always wanted to run City to the Sea, by the way! It looks like a wonderful race, in such a gorgeous place.
Love the idea, and I even live in the Richmond area!
However, I have run in the Richmond HM the past two years, and am targeting a new race in October this year. Put me on your team (well, your interest list) though, in case my schedule changes. I have not yet signed up for the October race, as I am still recovering from COVID earlier this month.
The Richmond event is first class: large and well supported, with great merch. An awesome choice! I may join in just for the fun of it!
Brilliant idea. I'd love to join but I'm one of your UK followers. Next step must surely be an international meetup😂
I would love that! Any ideas where/which race?
My niece and I have been on the lookout for a European half and marathon as well. Maybe we can tie them together?

I love this!!! Can’t do this November, but would love to do a March or April race!

Awesome, Jonathan! Really glad to hear that! See you in November 👍

We'll miss you, Melissa! Next time!
Taking a serious look. Thanks for bringing this together.
Awesome, Jim!

Matt says he has done City to the Sea numerous times and highly recommends Of course, he lives near Pismo Beach.
It would be a nice touch to have meet-ups twice a year. . . Seems they are only in the Fall now!
It would be nice to choose a spring half now on the west coast to let folks plan....
You are absolutely right, Stephanie! Hard enough training in the winter months and not knowing what you are training for or where!!
I like the Portugal idea... maybe in the spring?
Wouldn't that be fun?!! Never thought of it but it would be a nice change from the USA!!
Love the idea, and I even live in the Richmond area!

Definitely! I totally understand, but if you change your mind, I'd love to see you there, Jerry!
I love this idea! I was just looking at this race last week, as if I needed more encouragement to sign up!
That's awesome to hear, Katy! :)
It’s motivating for sure!!!!
I love the idea!!!
Hope you can make it!
I’m going to be there! See you in November!
Awesome, Courtney! So glad you're in!
I’m doing an early October half and I don’t think I can manage two so close together, otherwise I’d be game. Next year 😁
Definitely next year!
