Take care of yourself and your family! Marathon is sold out in Eugene. Half and 5K are down to less than 50 spots left. The last week was mild and beautiful. . . raining now, snow predicted for the Cascades. If running is the bus, you've stayed on it for a long time! Keep up the good work. . . I'll keep subscribing. I don't care so much about the different runs anymore. . . it's the human touch that you bring to your writing. :)

And then there's running. I always love that Slacking for your second Marathon bit. I feel that way now. Post injury, I ran my first half marathon in a year and a half in October, slow and easy, just get it done. Then in November I ran another half, with you guys, almost 2 minutes per mile faster, cool, I'm back, I'm healed, I can do anything. I can do anything like slack off December January, pick it up in February and slack off again in March. Now scrambling to be ready for June 1st half marathon.....

Re: the whole get more done, do more, be efficient line of thinking.... I'm still trying to shake it! I retired one year ago and I still keep a to do list and measure days by what I accomplished. Granted, some "accomplishments" are Change the litterbox, unload the dishwasher, but still, driven by the need to Get Things Done. Ugh

Thinking of the old rock song “another one bites the dust” and its parody “ another one rides the bus”. Then from running “Relentless forward movement “.

Heck yeah! This book rocks. I had the good fortune of taking a 2-day online seminar with Burkeman last year, which explored some of these themes. It was fabulous!

No way!!! I bet that was cool -- I absolutely loved the book. (And his occasional email newsletter, which is fantastic too!) Does he still offer those seminars?

I’d keep an eye on his site. That’s where I ultimately found it and signed up. I don’t recall how exactly I heard of it. (Maybe a link from Mario Fraioli’s letter). But it was maybe $25-50 bucks for a 4-5 hour seminar which was just an incredible value for all the insights and even some day-to-day tactics for focus and meaningful prioritization.

It is! Not just for the subject matter, but for his writing style too -- you could even read it in one sitting, it's that good.

I hope you feel better Terrell. You’ve had a challenging start to 2024. Healing completely is the most favored option. Train when you are 110% ready!

Great post although it’s also wise to recognize that sometimes the bus is going in circles or backwards and it may well be time to bale🤣. Hope you are feeling better Terrell. Good luck and sunshine to all the community
