I would love to go run on the Garda Lake again ,I did the half marathon there last year and it is just so beautiful. I also would really love to run somewhere in Norway or Iceland, and enjoy the beautiful nature while running. I feel this would be the most meditative run of my life :)
I have always wanted to do Antarctica! I have run in Svalbard (78 degrees North) in the 1990s. It is basically an arctic desert. Running there is wonderful - no trash; no city noise, just beautiful nature and maybe a reindeer or two. You do have to be very aware of the polar bears (that's another story). Today, it it much more touristy, so I doubt if the experience would be the same. So, after running there, I really wanted to do Antarctica, but never had the chance - no I'm too old, so I'll just read stories about it and dream.
Ken. It is never too late ….. I was on Quark expedition ship in Antarctica in December 2023. Got off the ship many times but there was never time to do a real run, I got my miles in on the ships treadmill watching the scenery. It was my bucket list trip and did not disappoint. Breathtaking is all I can say and I would go back in a heartbeat. But, Svalbard is my next destination, there for sure I will get in a run and think about you! And, watch for the polar bears. Kay
Running the UTMB course would be awesome. At the same time, there are so many incredible spots in the States that I want to explore. I would love to spend more time in the Eastern Sierras. I was mesmerized by those mountains when I crewed/paced of friend of mine at Badwater. Specifically, I'd like to run/hike Mt. Whitney. The John Muir Trail is also a bucket-list adventure.
I'd also like to mention that if you haven't visited the Grand Canyon, put that on your to-do list. In 2021, I ran Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim. I was overwhelmed by the scale and beauty. It was magical!
Alaska, in the winter. Some twenty-five years ago or so a guy in my running group had previously worked in Alaska on the pipeline. He had stories of running in Alaska and once presented a slideshow of pictures to our group. If I recall correctly, he said races were held unless the temperature was below -40. He told of running a 5K on a frozen river and ever since I have fantasized of doing that someday. It helps that I grew up with lots of opportunity to play in the cold and snow and I loved it. Growing older, not so much. But the thought of running in Alaska does help me get out the door in the winter.
I love this! Me too. My family and I will be going to England to visit my sister in July. We're going to check out Ireland for a few days. I hope to get in a bit of running. I can't wait.
It's part of a week-long running tour you can take, and trips like these have been sprouting up all over Europe (and really the world) over the past few years. One day... 😄
I did a hiking trip in the Dolomites a couple of years ago and spotted some women who were going out for trail runs there. Hat's off to them for that. My current fantasy location is Scotland. Did find a half marathon there in September that looks cool at the Firth of Forth. Just the name sounds awesome!
That piece caught my attention too! I’m hoping to hike the Dolomites and/or the Swiss Alps in late summer of 2026. Alpine Hikes is the tour guide I’m considering using.
First thought, New Zealand, not even sure why. I've run on vacations which means early morning runs. Running with the sunrise or sunset some how is a bit magical. New Zealand and all it's beauty at sunrise, yet there's Ireland and even Utah. Maybe I'll day dream on that long run tomorrow.
I am a long standing fan of The Lord of the Rings, both the books and movies (extended cut with the behind the scenes DVDs). I know there is more to New Zealand than Middle Earth, but that is my main motivation to visit someday. I’d love to do a half marathon in Wellington.

I guess Africa and Australia would be one and two
My friend went to Europe last summer as part of the Run the Alps group and it sounds/looks amazing! That's where I would go first!

What beautiful questions, Terrell. Thank you!
The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu would be incredible!!
Definitely!! I’ve walked it but running it would be awesome
Hey Blue, Incredible! I bet you got some amazing views. How long did it take you?
It was a few years ago but I think 3-4 days. It was amazing definitely worth doing
Holy cow! I just saw the photos you shared!! Breathtaking. AND a rainbow too. Thank you again.
Awesome. Thank you for sharing. I definitely want to make it happen.
I would too! That one looks AMAZING: https://www.eriksadventures.com/inca-trail-marathon-race-to-machu-picchu-peru/

Sounds like fun
Belgium, with stops at all the Trappist Monasteries for a sip of their famous ales.
I'll start! A couple of years ago, the NYT did this fantastic piece on running in the Dolomites, a mountain range in the Italian Alps that just looks incredible: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/23/travel/dolomites-hiking-running-travel.html

I did a running trip in the Dolomites this past summer with Rogue Expeditions and it was amazing. The views, the cheese, the refugios... So Amazing.
I think Anne Helen Peterson also posted a guide on doing this fast packing style on your own, which looked doable.

Yes!! NZ with its lush plants, challenging terrain, and odd animals could be awesome! I also like the idea of Tuscany’s rolling hills and grapes.

I'm with you on New Zealand! Especially in the mountains.
