Hello everyone! I'm based in San Francisco and I love running on the city's mountain and canyon trails. While I've done longer distances, my favorite distance is a half marathon (just like the name of this newsletter!). It's an impressive running goal to strive for but not a super crazy time commitment that is disruptive to schedules and requires running 3-5 hours at a time

I have been in Bogotá, Colombia for the past three months—actually, in and out of Colombia for a full year. I go to the gym every day, pray, read, and write, though I’m not quite ready for a marathon yet. I was born in India and have lived in Canada for the past 20 years. Recently, I split my residence between Vancouver and Zihuatanejo, Mexico. It’s been a long life!

I did consulting for General Electric back in 2002 and traveled to their office in Marietta once.

Oregon (the Willamette Valley area)...I love evening runs and it usually cools off enough here to get those in. I usually run along the Willamette river, which has a mix of pavement and trails. I'm running about 5 miles now, but plan on training for a half!

I’m on Bainbridge Island in Washington state-a 35 minute ferry ride from Seattle-I like paved off roads (bike paths) the best

I ran the Great Ferry Race a couple weeks ago on Bainbridge Island. Those hills about killed me. :D

I've always wondered about that race. You are a much braver human than I will ever be! I'm going to have to look up the race course so I can see exactly where it takes you. There's a biking equivalent that I think takes place in the Fall called the "Chilly Hilly." (Another event I'm steering clear of. :) Thanks for responding! Diana

I did the Chilly Hilly ("usually chilly, always hilly") decades ago when I had a bike. This race has a bit of everything; hills, road, trail (a 3 mile run through a park). I did it 3 years ago. Apparently that is long enough to forget how painful it was. 😂

At home in Williamsburg Virginia, where for the last 10 days it’s been upper 90s, high humidity, thunderstorms every day, with the heat index running around 110. Running has been on the treadmills at the air conditioned planet fitness about 6:30 in the morning. Fall can’t come soon enough.

Hello, I am in hot Phoenix. Early runs. Just maintaining MyFitness during these brutal summer days. We are in monsoon season so yesterday I had a torrential downpour on my run and today I started out and it was 90° and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky. You never know day by day.

Brenham, TX- southwest, about mid-way between Austin and Houston. Pretty cool (hot) to hear that so many of you are experiencing the same hot and humid weather that we are here. It’s pretty gross, but doesn’t stop me from getting out there, mostly on the weekends, around 9am when it’s already pretty steamy. Probably should wake up sooner. I have completed several half marathons, 10ks and 5ks. I’ve been stopping at 5 miles lately, and that feels great. I need to push myself to add a couple of more and start training more for another half marathon in December. I just had vein ablations done with two more lined up next week, and so I cannot run for a few weeks, but I can still walk!

Great to hear from you, Lana! Sending you good vibes for rest and recovery over the next few weeks -- probably good timing with all this heat!

I’m in Richmond, KY (twenty minutes south of Lexington). I’m running mostly on my treadmill lately with the temperatures and humidity, but try to run outside once a week. I have a paved path close to home that I usually run on, but often will go to one of the many parks nearby. Looking forward to cooler weather in a few months.

Hi All! I am in Washington State, Kent, just south of Seattle. I do most of my daily running on the Green River Trail and Soos Creek Trail, both paved running/biking paths. I run mostly 5ks and 10ks with the occasional half thrown in just to make life interesting. My favorite race is the Iron Horse Half Marathon in North Bend, WA.

Isn't the Iron Horse Great? I love it. . . Wanted to do it again this year! Use to live in Redmond where I could make most of the Orca Races!
