I was attending a conference in Long Beach with my son a few years ago. A local running club had a 5k, 10k, quarter marathon, half marathon and full marathon along the shore of the Pacific Ocean. I ran the half marathon, starting at 5:30. That was an amazing experience. The course followed a trail along the ocean and was 3.3 miles out and back.

I did this too in October of 2019. It's called Blitz the Shore and it is run along the Shoreline Way pedestrian and bike path. I started at 7:00 am so the sun was just starting to rise. The way the light shone on the water was beautiful!
I did my race in 2017. I opted for the 5:30 am start. Funny thing-here I am vacationing from Indiana wearing shorts and short sleeve shirt. The locals had warm up suits. There was one other runner at 5:30. She was from Canada and had on a tank and capris. The temps were wonderful for me. The locals. Not so much. There were 2 of us doing the half at that time.
HAHAHAHA!!!! I was going to say that I purposely chose the 7 rather than the 5:30 time because I thought starting at 7 would be cold enough!!! And, it was!

Also, this was my first ever organized race, and it really helped that it was very small. My group only had about 8 people in it.

Wow! It sounds just awesome. I love Los Angeles, especially running on the paved trails on the beach there.
