💬 Friday Thread: What are you training for?
What race/event/challenge are you aiming for — even if it's just a personal goal
Simple question today — though, I’m kinda surprised I haven’t asked it already this year, seeing as it’s already February 7th (!)
What are you dreaming about/aiming for/looking forward to this spring, summer or fall when it comes to running? Do you have a big goal race on your calendar, a new distance you’re shooting for, or anything else that is getting you excited to get out there and run?
Just yesterday, an old friend of mine completed the World Marathon Challenge, in which participants run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days — yes, it’s a real thing! — but don’t feel like your goal or challenge needs to be that big.
So, what are you aiming for this year? — Terrell
I should add, right now I don't have a big goal I'm aiming for just yet -- I've been (mostly) consistent with my own running so far this year, but haven't pushed myself to scale up my miles in anticipation of anything big yet. I'd love to get another race on the calendar for us to meet up at, perhaps for this fall. But I'm still looking around at fun events to run...
I was really excited to see someone else from this group planning on doing the Half Marathon for Grandma's in Duluth! I just realized it is 20 weeks away!!! So better get in some running. Since I live in NW WI I have been concentrating on TRX and CrossFit since it got somewhat harder to run outside. The holidays did a job on my diet so there are a few pounds to take off. It is time to start getting outside when possible.......and find some ice free trails to run. Diet is key and that will also be a priority. Looking at some small races between now and Grandma's to keep my focus. I will be 76 when I run Grandma's so please just pray I stay injury free and can set myself a reasonable pace. Thank you all in advance!!!
