💬 Friday Thread: How has your spring running been?
Reach a personal goal? Record a PR? Run a race, or distance, you never have before?
So, we’re coming up on the end of May — can you believe it, by the way?! — which means that for many of us, the events and distances we’ve been training for all year, we’ve had a chance to run by now.
I was wondering how it’s gone for you — did you run a race you’ve always had your heart set on, and if so, how did it go? Or, did you get out to run in a place you’ve always dreamed about, whether for a race or just on your own? Did you try something adventurous you hadn’t before?
I always love hearing about your experiences, so feel free to share yours, no matter what it is — even if it’s something you feel great about but might not seem like a big goal, like being consistent for the first time in a long time. (Which is what I’m most proud of for myself this year.) — Terrell
I'll start! 😀 While I haven't run any races this spring -- except for a 10K here in Atlanta in January, which probably doesn't count as spring, but still took place in 2025 -- what I'm most proud of is staying consistent with a plan I laid out back in January, running 3-4 times a week, just short distances, but staying consistent.
I didn't take any really long breaks, never more than a week off from running, and so I feel good going into what I'm looking forward to for us this fall: training for the half we'll run in November (which I still need to pick out!).
In the midst of moving/relocating to Lewes, DE, I trained for the Delaware Half Marathon. Not only did I finish strong, but I came in first in my age group....."1st place female." An unexpected surprise!
