I just added the Coros Pace 3 to my gift list. My wife gets $600 a year for fitness gear, and she’s old school. She just exercises.

I’m so tempted to take the plunge and buy this, seems simple enough. I used to be an Apple Watch person a decade ago but all the various things it could or could not do distracted me all the time from focusing on the run. Then I accidentally shattered the face. Since then, have largely relied on the phone and sometimes a $14 Casio as a timer. I just need a not-too-smart watch that can basically accurately measure the miles, cadence and heart rate, so I don’t have to lug my phone for every run

A friend bought me the $600 Coros watch because I couldn’t take the plunge on it but it was the present EVER! I love this thing…the battery lasts forever, you can download your own training plans and routes on the watch and it re-routes you if you’re off track. It’s everything I wanted that I complained about the other watches not having.

That’s so great to hear, Jennie! My one big complaint about my Apple Watch -- which, really, otherwise is fine -- is the battery life. It’s nowhere near where its competitors are.

Jennie Conyers's avatar

Yeah I absolutely loved the Apple Watch but the life just wouldn’t cut it, especially when I went into ultrarunning. If the Apple would step it up, I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Anyone tried an Amaz fit? I am looking for the simplest possible watch

All I want is race fees!

I would also love a new watch. I have a Garmin Forerunner 245, but would love to try something new!

I’ve been thinking about the new coros pace 3 myself! I love my garmin but am wanting a few more features. My company gives us $500 a year towards health and fitness and watches are on the approved list...lucky that that can cover the cost. Will have to get in January tho for the start of a new year....

Terrell Johnson's avatar

That's pretty generous! What a nice benefit!

Already had the Coros Pace 2 for some years - had a hard time justifying now to buy the Pace 3, but in the end, I did it. No regrets up-to-date.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Ahhh, that's great to hear. I've been reading really positive things about it, too.

With the hills here where we live in Oregon, I got my daughter and her friend Brazos Hiking sticks.. I don't know what wood they'll turn out to be, but they will be nice. . .handcrafted twisted.sticks. Mine is Hickory, rustic, well finished and cut to a length that is perfect for me. I could use a warm stocking cap which I am looking for. No need for socks. . .I don't wear them, but Darn Tough in Vermont makes the best. The watch I wear day and night is a Timex Easy Reader. . . I can see it anywhere! The fancy ones are lost on me!! Have a great run. We have two Atmospheric Rivers hitting here in The PacNW, so it is wet. . . and I understand cold and snowy over the Cascade passes. Take care!:)

All 3 of my grandchildren are budding runners and every holiday we go to our favorite independent running store and buy them shoes & socks. Soo much fun❗️And this Thanksgiving, we bought our 13 year old cross country granddaughter an autographed copy of a running book by Julia Hughes. She loves it.

I'm tough to buy for. Usually when I see something I like, I buy it! An Apple watch, various pairs of shoes and ear buds. But, there is one thing I never tire of getting... a good pair of seamless running socks. I'm hard on them and the Sock Fairy always seems to take one... why only one I'll never understand. So, if my Bride is reading this, GOOD SOCKS in LOUD colors.

20 in and 19 out, but it's no paradox

It's just a simple fact of life that washers live on socks!!!

Not sure on the source, but I remember my dad telling me that, pfft probably 50 years ago.

Sock Fairy!!!!😂

Terrell Johnson's avatar

I just picked up some Saucony socks at the Richmond Half last month and wearing them is like walking on air.

I have gotten a few people to start running over the years, which is a gift for me and them. Then I pay their entry fee and join them for their first 5k.

Nilima Srikantha's avatar

Definitely a helpful gift for a budding runner who is astonished at the distance and the price!

My Garmin Vivoactive 4 is dying as we speak so I have been researching watches. 10 years of my activities lives in Garmin but I am really considering the Pace 3. Especially that PRICE with all those features compared to Apple and Garmin !!!

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Seriously! I've been an Apple fan for a long time; maybe too long. The past couple years, I've just gotten tired of their prices, which are basically double or quadruple what everyone else's are for the same devices/products. The Coros Pace 3 is HALF the price of an Apple Watch, with MUCH better battery life, as I understand.

Steve Leitschuh's avatar

I bought the first watch and now wear my Apple #7 every day... There are probably a lot of good watches out there, but I wear it all day and make sure to close all my rings. My record is 396 straight days...

Delcy Falk's avatar

I feel like Garmin is going in the same direction! The vivo 5 does not have stairs climbed anymore and is just as expensive. I really want a 265s but $450?!? That is ALOT!

I wouldn't complain if someone gave me yet another trucker hat from any of my favorite outdoor/running/hiking companies. And it would be nice if someone gifted me the training journal that I always love the idea of but rarely write in, rather than me buying it myself.

Steve Leitschuh's avatar

You can't have TOO many hats...

Terrell Johnson's avatar

I'm the same way -- I lean on Strava being my training journal, but it would be cool to keep one manually, in an actual paper journal.

I’ve had this headlamp for a few years now and it works great for night runs. Very lightweight and USB rechargeable without the hassle of a cord. Great stocking stuffer- I’ll be getting one for our run/pint club secret santa exchange. Better yet if you can find it at a local retailer! Thanks for sharing this!

My husband who walks (and downhill skis!) asked for more higher than the no see Feetures socks so I bought those for his stocking and then I bought a headlamp for him to put into mine ;)

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Nice! That's a great suggestion -- I'll have to pick up some of those too 👍

Julie B. Hughes's avatar

I love socks! :) So I'm gifting my running friends....Fun colors and thicker ones for winter runs. :) Plus I'll probably through in one of my books or a poem. HA!

Delcy Falk's avatar

I am always looking for good reads! What is your book?

Julie B. Hughes's avatar

Hi Delcy!

Yes! Plug away re: your book! Any particular brand of socks?

Julie B. Hughes's avatar

For central NY....Smartwool! :) THE BEST! Oh and thank you for the permission to plug away. :) LOL

Yes! I LOVE Feetures. :)

Blue's avatar

Ha totally the same here. I have an Apple Watch and it’s fine but coros pace 3 🤔🤣

Terrell Johnson's avatar

YES! There's no good reason for me to want a new watch -- the Apple Watch works just fine -- but maybe it's impracticality of it that attracts me? 🤣

Blue's avatar

I don’t know either but at least I know I’m not the only one 🤣thanks. Maybe it was the kipchoge ad 😬
