I’ve been going to the Episcopal Church long enough that I don’t need to open the prayer book. I have all the responses down to Eucharistic Prayers A-D, and all the Prayers of the People, too.
But mostly I want to sing out of the hymnal. I daydream through the sermons.
I’m running a photo of emerging crocuses (or is it croci?) this week, too.
Right back at you, Fran! Hope yours was lovely -- and I'm like that too sometimes, I can recite sections of the service completely from memory. I actually like it to be an oral/audio experience rather than reading most of it, you know?
Okay--may I just say....I would LOVE to see you write "that book." I am happy to be a self-appointed cheerleader/encourager. I've said it countless times...I love your writing--I love your essays about "life." And as a friend and I were saying to one another yesterday--in this stage of our Ikigai pondering, we've finally realized we don't always need to swing for the fences. (Aka, NYT Bestseller--although it would be nice.) There's nothing wrong with a base hit or two....
That's so true, Diana! I really like that way of putting it. The only thing that's within our control is standing at the plate and swinging; we can't control where the ball goes after that. (I'd love an NYT bestseller too, though!)
Went out and looked. They're ready to pop. Tulip came up overnight, hydrangea needs pruning cuz the leaves are coming out. Robins just flew in. I saw them in the trees! :)
Terrell, if you'd told me you had a Golden Retriever, we wouldn't have talked about writing at all! We would have spent the whole time going on and on about our dogs (my Finn lived almost 14 years of a good long life up to 2021). But, truly, it was a treat to talk with you almost-in-person the other day, and I love what you say here about our repeating spring seasons.
Hey there! First, please forgive how long it's taken me to reply back :) And, I can't believe I didn't think of bringing Twix into the Zoom! I should have, clearly -- you'd love her! It was such a treat to talk with you, I really, really enjoyed it. We'll have to do it again sometime soon! (Once I get a clearer handle on my book idea!)
Great post except around here I am soooo not feeling spring yet. This winter really kinda sucks in the North east. I enjoy Harriet’s posts as well. She’s great. Twixt looks so happy. Thanks for the smiles
Mine have buds that should pop in a few days. The tulips are up, hydrangea has leaves, the robins are back and flocking on the winter berry tree. . .right on time. . .must almost be spring. ;) Happy Lincoln's Birthday!
John Burroughs -- "To learn something new, take the path you took yesterday"
Wow -- I love that! Is there any more to that quote? It's really, really perfect.
Not that I know of - it's one of those statements that stands on its own. Here is something I wrote up on Burroughs that will give you a little more on him https://thelongbrownpath.com/2017/02/12/burroughs-on-observing/
The daffs have buds here. . .I check all of it every day!
Are they blooming yet? Ours are poking out of the ground, but not yet ready to bloom, it seems.
The more we know about something the more we realise we don't know about it.....

I killed the crocuses after all. Subbed in a photo of my daughters— hard to believe it was almost 16 years ago!

This is exciting! (Love to see a photo of them if you want to share in the chat :)

Only if Twix is there too!
Of course! 😃
