I love Friday threads not because I read them that day but I know it’s waiting for me when i finally have some time in the w/e. Honestly though whatever works for you Terrell!

Same...Sundays are a little more relaxed and we could brag/talk about our long run weekends too. I really like the idea of an open discussion as well.

Kinda the same with me, too. No birds to watch except my loyal little hummingbird!

I noticed that most of the questions and answers to running appeared on the web chat yesterday. I guess people like the instant gratification. I suppose it is easier for you, too, and that I appreciate. One question. . . is there an actual URL for the web chat, or do I need to keep finding it through the phone link? Silly question, I know, but sometimes computers puzzle me!

This should be the last snow storm for March. Should run into warmer weather now until we are all complaining about the heat! :) Take care!

P.S. Glad to hear the Sunday issue will be the same. . . post obscure articles as you feel the need! I enjoyed the last two a lot!!

I admit I am often busy on Fridays. Sundays I have more time to read posts and respond. I’m open to talking about running & what everyone is doing with races, etc.

I love the discussion groups! I really enjoy hearing others experiences and their running story! I like the idea of switching it to Sunday. As someone who works, Fridays are pretty crazy and Sundays will at least give me the chance to catch up on emails and hopefully.....discussion groups 😉

As for a question:

I was curious how you guys train for races - do you go to the internet and go off of a race plan, do you wing it, do you map out your own race plan? What has worked, what hasn’t worked?

I have followed Jack “Daniels Running Formula" for years. I swear by all his training programs and pace charts. It’s a book that sits on my book shelf that I reference often.

I’ll have to look into that! Thanks for the tip 😊

Good to know! As far as race training plans, I have a few that I've used over the years that I designed, and they've worked really well for me. You can work with a running coach to design a personal plan just for you, too -- it all depends on what your goals are. What distance are you looking to run?

I’m going for a marathon. I haven’t had much luck with the prescribed internet training plans in any distance.

Hmmmm. What happened when you tried training with those plans?

Shin splits would come back, overall fatigue....to me it just felt like symptoms of over training

Not many birds out this morning--just crows and gulls. Change in the weather, which will be colder and snow showers. End of March is frequently like this!

As to your question, I've given it some thought. The Friday Discussion group seems to have dissipated. It seems to me most people post questions on the Chat, be it on the phone or the web. To me, the phone is out. I won't be one of the herd scrolling on the phone while walking on the street or the Trail The web chats are convenient, and I enjoy the small comments and the photos (even though it is a mystery to me as to how to post photos!)

I do hope you keep on dancing! I love the posts and frequently go back over them, even if they are older. I do like the Sunday readings of curated races and readings. Move them to any day you want, please keep them. They are Sunday entertainment for me. I cannot speak for others. One comment, though, do not fall into the trap of animated GIFs by users. I've had other newsletters go to that feature and promptly unsubscribed! Much too distracting for someone who enjoys reading.

Take care, time to get on with it! :)

Thanks, Nilima! You know, the muted response to this thread probably tells me all I need to know about how the Friday discussions have dissipated, as you mention. Don't worry, the Sunday issue with weekly recommendations won't stop -- in fact, I've been working on it today, as we speak! It's a bit of a bummer for me that the open thread response is as low as it is today, but that's actually okay -- life is full of change, and our discussions seem to have migrated over to the Chat space to a significant degree; and actually that's great, because I love the functionality it has, especially that it allows you all to post whenever you like. Stay warm out there!

Now that I think about it more, it may be that Chat is better for the way we communicate now -- you don't have to wait for me to send out a Thread email, you can just jump in anytime you want and post/ask a question/etc. And you can share photos there, and use emojis, etc. (And it's available on the web now too, not just in the app.)

I definitely like the guided questions that you post as well. It’s a good combo of both I think.
