Love this! I decided to try on something new last year. In looking at my running history/habits a pattern emerged: Train, run race, stop running. Repeat. I wanted this time to be different. I wanted to be a runner who occasionally trained for races, but my ultimate goal was to continue running beyond the race. And since I had a marathon scheduled I knew I had to finish really strong to be motivated to continue (unlike my 1st which ended with - wow! I just did that!! NEVER AGAIN 😂😂) Now, signing up for some fall & spring races helped with that endeavor, but now here we are. What gets me out the door is that I’m a runner, it’s what I do!

Yes!! I’ve challenged myself not to sign up for any races. I want to just be comfortable in my habit as a runner for running’s sake. If races come later, fun, I’ll do them! But for now, it’s for the love of it. Also really okay going super slow, and not overthinking it.

In the words of the Mandalorian, “this is the way” 👍

In all seriousness, I think getting faster comes naturally from running at a comfortable pace; the more you run and enjoy it, the more you’ll get out there, and you’ll get faster without even noticing you have.

Hi, Terrell,I want you to know that since the quarantine, I've been delighted to run more frequently, and to be part of this group. I'm looking forward to continue in the training for the half this fall. Previously I knew a few friends who ran that I would see at various races. We were not really "in touch " when it came to training for races.

The book from Mark Cucuzzella, Run for Your Life, has been teaching me so much about muscles, feet muscles and the practice of minimal shoes. This practice has helped reduce the sort of regular knee injuries I've experienced for quite some time. Gotta shout out a big Thank You, and see you on tomorrow's run!!!😍🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Really glad to hear this, Gara! I'll definitely check out the book. I have a couple of shelves full of running books and it actually may be on one of them! See you tomorrow too!
