Hi from Cornelius, NC! Just north of Charlotte, on the shores of beautiful Lake Norman.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hey Cathie! 👋 How’s things in NC?

Fr. Cathie Caimano's avatar

wonderful!!

Blue's avatar

Yes I have it’s a great race. I’ve known the director for years

Corrina T.'s avatar

I live in Las Vegas, NV, and run on roads and the paseos in my neighborhood. 😊

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hey there Corrina! 👋 By the way, what are paseos?

Byron Blake's avatar

Boise, ID. Howdy.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Howdy back, Byron! It's been a while -- how've you been?

Byron Blake's avatar

Well, and yourself? I left Israel on 31 July and arrived in Boise for another similar project. Way down on my weight (120#) but only very lightly jogging. At work I get 15,000 steps a day and there's lots of stair climbing.

Hey there Debby! 👋

Hello from Ankeny, Iowa! I’m signed up for my 10th & 11th half marathons in May, but my first ones in 6 years (since having two kiddos!) 😬🤩

Terrell Johnson's avatar

This is so cool to hear, FTFC! Which halfs will you be running this May?

From the Flip Chart's avatar

The DSM Women’s Half and Dam to DSM :)

Shanghai

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hi there James! Wow, all the way from Shanghai? That's very, very cool -- can you recommend any races you've loved there, or even just places to run? 👋

James Hsu's avatar

Shanghai has many great places to run, and I’ve completed all 6 of my marathons in China.

I’m not sure how DMs work on the Substack app, but feel free to message me. Or maybe one of these days, I can write an article or make a video on this — I’m a full-time creator.

In Northampton in snowy… for us!… England. We have very quintessentially British villages, woods and rolling hills round here which can make for some fun running.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hey there Craig! 👋 That sounds absolutely lovely right now, especially considering the (extremely) mild weather we've had so far this winter here where I live in Atlanta. Very jealous!

Craig Lewis's avatar

Thanks Terrell, in a typically English weather way it’s been fluctuating between crisp snow and slush, but we’ve had some days when it’s looked very pretty.

Hey, everyone! I'm in Girona, Catalonia, Spain but hop around quite a bit, so I end up running about Europe and the PNW of the US. Currently looking at either Genoa, Italy or Aviero, Portugal for a half in April.

Would love to connect on Strava to see where you run (Especially if you like to post photos and interact with others like I do) https://www.strava.com/athletes/44072188

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hey there NNM, quick question -- I'd love to have you participate in my reader interview series for the newsletter. (Here's a great example of one: https://www.thehalfmarathoner.com/p/hearing-your-stories-rosalie-chan)

Would you be interested? Just let me know -- thanks!

NomadicNomMom's avatar

Sure thing! That would be fun!

Terrell Johnson's avatar

I'll connect with you, NNM! So good to hear from you👋

Currently living in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia. Known more for whales than runners but there is a nice little running community and some pretty tracks along the water. The 10km+ esplanade is perfect for a return half marathon. We have a flat tidal beach a couple of kms down the hill from home so at low tide, can run more than 10km one way along the beach - compact not soft sand.

I love running wherever I go in the world as it's a fantastic way to get around, see things and even meet people.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Great to hear from you, Glenda! Are you planning any big running trips this year?

Glenda Mitchell's avatar

Good question! I don't tend to plan running trips but rather plan trips and check out what runs I can do while I'm there. My local town of Hervey Bay is holding its inaugural half marathon in June so I'm excited to have been selected as one of the pacers. Later in the year I'm heading to hike the 300km Coast to Coast in the UK and expect to run some of the tracks. The Medoc Marathon is tempting me if I can get in and am able to work in the dates.

How about you?

Louisville, Ky. We’re blessed with 3 Olmstead designed parks and they are beautiful for running.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hey there Melissa! 👋 We actually have some Olmstead linear parks here in Atlanta, too. Way back when I was a freelance writer, I got to talk with someone who'd been involved with them, eons ago. They're such an interesting idea, aren't they?

Cool to see where everyone is. I’m upstate Ny near Ithaca. Lyme hollow is my favorite trails around home. I like to run anywhere. Working on my 50 states.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hey there Blue! 👋 Have you ever run the Gorges Ithaca Half there? https://www.rednewtracing.com/gorges-ithaca-half

Hi all. Checking in from Elkins, AR in northwest Arkansas. Love running the back roads with the dogs. My German Shrpherd and I take turns pushing each other.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hi there Eve! I actually got to spend a long weekend once in Northwest Arkansas, and it was just spectacularly beautiful. Loved seeing the Ozarks and all the surrounding areas. I'd love to hear more about running with your dogs!

Tim Siddall's avatar

Cincinnati is my primary residence. However, I’m retired and spend 1/2 my time in Monument, CO. Love running anything single track in the Colorado Rockies…..especially the San Juans.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hey there Tim! 👋 Do you have a favorite trail in particular out there? (And, have you ever had the chance to run the Pikes Peak Half out there?)

Rupa's avatar

Hi Terrell and THM community! I live in Bethesda MD & work in Washington DC. Last fall we did a point to point run with my training group from MD to DC and ended in Alexandria, VA all in 20 miles🙂

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Hey there Rupa! 👋 So great to hear from you, my friend.

Nilima Srikantha's avatar

Sun is out today! In Eugene, Or. Marathon is almost sold out!! Have a Happy 2026!! ;)

Terrell Johnson's avatar

Isn't that wild how quickly they sell out now? How are you, my friend? 👋

Nilima Srikantha's avatar

I'm fine! :) Sun is out and the grass is green! Yes, it is amazing how quickly it all moves!

What really got me is how fast ICE managed to kill 2 people in Northeast Portland (of all places!) in a medical parking lot!! It even got one of our Oregon Senators in quite a rage! I tell you. . .after 78 years on this planet, it has gotten to be a really strange and different place! Outdoors is what keeps my sanity!

Nilima Srikantha's avatar

As of now, the Eugene marathon and Half are sold out
