Couldn’t run yesterday so got up early today to run 6 miles with my wife. Set a slow pace due to heat and humidity but enjoyed our run together.

Great to hear, Jeff! You live near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, right? Hope the heat is bearable up there.

Hey there Maria! It’s from an essay she wrote for the New York Times back in 1999: https://www.nytimes.com/1999/07/19/arts/to-invigorate-literary-mind-start-moving-literary-feet.html

Happy Sunday running! I liked the run-through of the in-person race and it was pretty spot-on with the in-person race my friends and I participated in a couple weeks ago. We also had the bands that were given to us to as proof that we passed the temperature check but I really liked the color choice...we didn’t have that. I wonder if people would really pay attention to that in the midst of the pre-race high. Ours was also a staggered start with a participation cap. Masks were “required” before and after the race but honestly I noticed about half of the people sitting and walking around wore them.

As far as cancellations, more of the Mainly Marathon series were cancelled. Luckily the Appalachian series that I put in vacation for is still running (pun intended). Again I’m not counting on it pulling through but am hopeful. Also I’ve cancelled my trip to Oregon for my self-planned Prefontaine Tour. Last I checked, NikeTown, Nike Headquarters, and the Coos Bay Museum were all closed. *sigh* I also wanted to visit the Bill Bowerman statue at Pre’s old college and I’m unsure what access will be like. On another note, I did get the paperwork to have my foot x-rayed. I’m pretty certain I’ve had some stress fractures since late last year but I’m stubborn and keep pounding the pavement insisting that running therapy cures all, even a broken foot. Common sense tells me I should use this “can’t run races” time heal if it’s confirmed.

I got up early intending on running but got lazy so I’ll do it tomorrow, promise. And side note, lucky you for the U2 concerts!!! That’s a bucket list item of mine. One day....

Right back at you, Jennie! I hope your foot heals as soon as possible -- sounds like it's a great time to take it easy right now, even though I know that's hard. That's a subject I think we need to dig deeper into here, and I've been planning to reach out to a writer who wrote a book all about recovery last year, called "Good to Go." Stay tuned on that.

And yes, the U2 concerts have all been AMAZING! I think I've seen them like 10 or 11 times. So I'm definitely a fan. Have a great, great Sunday out there and let that foot heal. 😃
