Half planning on joining! Would be fun to meet this community. Following your half marathon training guide via treadmill now! It's 106 in Austin today, so I have to remind myself it won't be this hot forever (hopefully! haha) and i'm ramping up now to enjoy the longer runs when it's cooler.
That would be awesome if you could make it, Kevin! I totally get you about the treadmill training -- I do a lot of that myself here in Atlanta. It's not 106 here, but it's still pretty hot, especially in the afternoons. And you're right, that won't last forever...
I figured I would get myself back up to the 10K range via treadmill, and hopefully it's cool enough by then to start getting outside for the longer distances.
I look forward to hearing about your progress! I will be having knee surgery in a couple of weeks — finally, some relief, I hope! — so I'll be cheering on from the sidelines while you all train.
Awwwww, man! I’m bummed to hear that, Rebecca, but I’m hopeful you’re on the path to recovery. We will meet up for a run someday! What kind of surgery is it (if I may ask)?
Meniscus repair and bone spur removal. The bone spurs are on the outside of my left knee, and my IT band keeps getting stuck on them, causing very painful knee locking and popping. This will be my second surgery on this knee in 4 years 😬 I'm hopeful this one will result in some needed relief. Fortunately, from what I recall of my last go-round, the recovery is pretty quick. I'm already basically back at the beginning with my running as it stands currently, so once I do get back out there, I'll really be starting over! But, I only started running in earnest after my first knee surgery, so I have been there before. I just have to psych myself up mentally to tell myself I can get back to what I was doing again!
Thank you, Debby! I do hope so. I miss it, and right now I'm so far away from it I wonder how I ever even ran at all in the first place 🥲 but I know that people come back from injuries all the time (myself included), and sometimes even stronger than before.
Hi! Good luck in GA. That is my birthday weekend, and same day as the NYC marathon which I am cheering for some friends. I am running a half on 9/28 and 11/30. The training has been pretty good because I don’t feel stressed as I have when training for a half. Btw the chat link didn’t work.

Good luck in Athens, Terrell!
Thanks, Jake! I’ll need it! 😄

Wishing you all the best, and you will be right where you want to be running-wise before you know it!!
