I admire a person like Mina Guli. She is doing something to make people aware of a problem, no one seems to want to address. The world, and yes the US of A, has a serious water problem. Just look at California and the other states that grow most of our food. Did you know, it takes a gallon of water to grow one almond? I thought it was a fabrication but it's not, and now we have of all things almond milk to go along with soy milk. People make sure their lawns are kept green and that their flowers and vegitation looks good. Eight years ago I was at Disney and a crew was tearing out a lawn... it wasn't real grass even though it felt real. I asked for a sample with the manufacturer's name on it. To make a long story short, my lawn is now fake. It looks good year round. It's fun to watch people bend down and feel the grass. It's heart wrenching to see the people in countries that are currently dealing with droughts. What it boils down to, is that the haves don't seem to worry about it until they are members of the have nots. Only then do they worry about it.
This is indeed inspiring! Especially since doctors told her that because of her broken back, she’d never run again. Ha! How many times do we need to see this to realize that doctors don’t always have the last word?? Have hope! LOTS of hope! And keep doing something. Never give up!!
I did read the article that you wrote about Mina Guli. I also signed up for her 5 day River challenge and ran a 5K along the Trail, which I hadn't done in eons. It has been so cold and monotonous!
Yesterday was warm! Not so beautiful as it could have been, but I'll take 73 degrees over sunshine any day of the week. Today looks about the same and I'll be out for the Challenge (June1-June5).
Running for the Walker River in Nevada where I grew up. It used to be roaring river with rapids in the spring. So beautiful! God only knows what it is now. . . maybe a trickle with all the people moving out there. Nevada and the Southwest have been so dry. I just don't know what we have done to the planet to deserve this, but I hope it changes soon. :)

It sounds amazing, Nilima! So glad you did the 5-day river challenge!
Challenges like these are a lot of fun! I hope others took it on too! Maybe raising awareness is what we need! :)
