I recall a line from “Cutting Edge” which is largely a chick flick where a hockey player and a temperamental figure skater go to the olympics. Early in the movie after the girl goes through yet another potential figure skating partner. The exasperated Russian coach says, “I’m at bottom of barrel.” The skater’s father responds, “Find a different barrel!” For me, retirement provides me with opportunities to change course whenever the need arises. One should seek something new when whatever life is serving up has become bland … this “new” need not be radically new, but just enough to be “subtly different”.
