Thanks for that post. Excellent morning thoughts. I’m 59 and running daily. Currently using your half/ training for November. My sisters think I’m crazy but running is my thinking place. It’s where I go to “ hear”.
I'm currently not training for any race, though I do manage to keep up with your training program. I ran out of the one I was doing for the 10K and just fell into this one that you started on the Half Marathoner.
Yesterday was hot and dry, 84 degrees. Today, it is raining, which is a Godsend--everything was getting so dry the leaves on the trees were turning yellow and falling. (This is in Redmond, WA, where everyone thinks it is wet and cool all the time. . . and, Yes, indeed, I will get out for my 3 miles since I love running in the rain!)
Keep ferreting out the articles, videos, and commentary. Everything you post is so inspirational in one way or the other. It must take a lot of time and thought on your part to find the information, but rest assured, they are appreciated by this runner! I'm so glad to be part of this group. :)
Thank you so much, Nilima! I had no idea the weather could get like that in Redmond -- all I've seen are photos of lush, green trees by big bodies of water and lots of clouds, so I (naively!) assumed it was always like that there. 😃 So glad you're enjoying the training!
They rarely show how the weather is here. You and your family should come up to the Pacific Northwest on one of your breaks once it is safe to travel again. You'd love the outdoorsy feel of it! We do have lush green trees and Lake Union, and, of course, the Puget Sound and the San Juan's, but then there are the Cascades which are yet another experience It is a trail runner's paradise with a lot more high hills than you can imagine.
Ran for 3. It was easy in the drizzle and moist air. Looking forward to this weekend when once more we are in the 80s for the 7 miles. Never a dull moment! :) We are hopefully running the Craft Classic Half on the 18th of October in a live event. I placed first last year for my age group (70-74) and hope to do it again!
Terrell, I really liked your post today. It sends a great message to follow your gut and do what motivates and drives you. Now, as far as the kinds of thoughts that go through your head while running vs my thoughts...today I wasn't thinking abstractly or so esoterically like you. I was thinking, "Holy crap is it humid, 2 more miles...holy #$%^ it's really humid, 1 more mile...thank you Lord I can see my driveway!" I do enjoy your posts and I like this virtual run group. Have a great day!!!
This is my second week. I love the emails you send; always inspiring. This one was awesome. I did have to forward it to my family as I wanted them to read your piece on The Calling of Voices. I am 61 and returning after an injury. Trying to find that "joy" again in running. Your posts are encouraging...thank you!
I love being part of the half marathon group! I like the thoughts shared and running goals lost/gained. I want to be that 93 year old lady waiting for the race to start one day! A little soul searching is good for the soul and for digestion and a good night 's sleep!
Thanks for sharing. One reason I enjoy running is the opportunity to unplug and devote time to meaningful listening and thinking.

I truly love your almost daily e-mails, Terrell!

I hear you, Sandra! Sometimes I write late at night and maybe wax a little too poetic! 😃

Thanks so much, Martha! (And are you THE Martha Stewart?! 😜 )
Of course!! No just "a" Martha Stewart
I really, really love this and find it highly relatable.
Thank you so much, Carissa!
Hi, Terrell,
I love being part of the half marathon group! I like the thoughts shared and running goals lost/gained. I want to be that 93 year old lady waiting for the race to start one day! A little soul searching is good for the soul and for digestion and a good night 's sleep!
Keep it coming!!😊🏃♀️🏃♀️
Moving and thought-provoking. Thank you for this.
Thanks, Edith!
Great words of wisdom today! For me, running and cycling are mental and emotional therapy that promote well-being.
Was on vacation and just now read this. Truly inspiring. Thank you.
Got a 7 mile run in on a cloudy morning!
You go, Gara! 🙌
