I'll be at the Atlanta 10 Miler though I am in no way properly trained. It might be a nice long walk with a podcast! Let me know where you're meeting up.
Tomorrow, at 6:30 am, I'll get to run the Cuyamaca 100k. It takes place in beautiful mountains of Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, about an hour east of San Diego. The best thing: my 17 y/o daughter is going to crew me.
That's just awesome, John -- this may make me sound like an idiot, but how long will that take you? (And definitely let me know how it goes when you're back!)
Well, it's 62 miles with around 8800 feet of gain on technical trails. If I were healthy and fit, it'd take around 12 hours. However, considering the ongoing recovery from this spring's tibia injury, my A goal is to finish in 15 hours.
i have an oktoberfest 5 miler at the end of the month and the celtic solstace 5 miler in december. both are in md and i have run them multiple times. yearly traditions!
After taking forever to choose a race, I ended up deciding on the Columbus Half marathon. I have a friend that is running and we will make it a girls getaway race weekend. The way things turned out, I am glad I didn't plan more of a racecation at a different event as I spent the last 3 weeks of September sick with and getting over Covid. To say this messed up my training is an understatement. My husband and I were lucky enough to secure entry to the Tokyo Marathon coming up on March 1, 2026, so I will be focusing on training for that. Not having a November race scheduled works out perfectly for my training schedule. I hope that everyone racing in Atlanta has a great time!
I still can’t believe we got into this race. It will be our 5th major and we are excited about the trip. I will be sure to report back after we return. Thank you for the well wishes. I am feeling much better and almost back to normal…finally.
Thanksgiving weekend in PA of all places, I will be running The Leftovers Half. I love their concept of using extra medals to be awarded for this race vs. having it go to waste. It will also allow me to knock out state 35 and play tourist from some historical sites growing up.
I hope to see Valley Forge as I'll be close by. I look for dinner/river cruises as it gives me an approximately 90 minute lay of the land (longer with dinner cruises). Anything history driven makes me appreciate this country, even turbulent times.🏃♀️🐢🥰😄
50/50

Buck 50, a 33 miler in the mountains above Lake George in the Adirondacks. Sunday! I will be power walking plenty of it, so running is a misnomer.

Sounds exciting. Will be thinking of you while you are pursuing this distance.

Love that, Kel!

My wish for you is for continued good health … all the way to Tokyo and beyond
Wow! So you'll be running Tokyo! I can't wait to hear all about it when you're back. (And I hope you're feeling better too... Covid is no joke!)

Running the Urban Bourbon Half in Kentucky in a couple of weeks
How awesome is that? I’ve always wanted to run that race — seeing the photos, it looks like a gorgeous route.

That's awesome, Julia! I love that idea too -- what do you plan to see while you're there?

Just finished the Delco 10 miler.
Off to Columbus Ohio on the 19th for Nationwide children’s hospital half marathon!
Very nice! Where was the Delco 10 miles?
Delaware County. Just outside of Philadelphia.
