Thanks for this! I loved the video & shared it with my family. They will love it too. (One of my brothers has been on a Beethoven kick. He’s reading a book about him. Perfect timing!)

Anyway—a cool thing that happened to me while running this week. In the fall & spring I usually pass our local high school runners. I have for years & never thought much of it. Some are nice, some are super focused, some are kinda rude.

Yesterday I had a somewhat difficult day at school. It’s been a tough year so far. On my run I passed by 3 of the high school runners. They not only made room for me on the sidewalk as I approached, but each of them told me, “Good job!” as I passed by. This made my day! I don’t have many adult runners do that, much less teenagers.

I felt prompted to contact their high school admin & let them know how impressed I was. I did this morning. The coach & principal were excited & are going to recognize these young men for their excellent behavior. 👍🏼

Sometimes it’s the simple things people say or do that just make my day!

I walked down the aisle to this song 40 years ago. I wish my husband was alive to share this with me. Thanks for sharing with us.

GM. Just watched this with my seniors honors economics class [finally got the chance to open it up to see what you sent]. While it was what I actually expected, to watch my kids just slowly turn and watch as they recognized the sound, even while in the midst of their work, as it played on my screen/board in the front of the room was both mesmerizing and euphoric as I watched them appreciate naturally things that I do... Thank you.

Stan, this is just so amazing and gratifying to hear. Moments like this are when you realize how impactful the internet can be — that I can share this in an email one day and it can be heard by your students the next in a completely different part of the country/world/etc. So, so cool.

Ooh! I signed up for the Woolly Hollow race again this coming year. I asked about medals last year I ran it because I needed it for my 50 states so I’m happy to say he shared with me that he’s incorporating it in coming races. Very hilly and VERY rooty, but oh so beautiful. Closest thing to being with God, I say.

This is my go-to cheer up video: Dr. Reynolds, the principal at Lake Mary High School, jumping in to join the step team routine. When the kids go crazy, it cracks me up... :-)

Oh! I've always loved this video!

It was made years ago in Spain to celebrate the 130th Anniversary of Sabadell Bank.

They did a shorter one last year during the pandemic: https://youtu.be/9tHrpJxinP8

I used to humming Ode to Joy to my grandkids and they all still love listening to classical music.

As for running, I had to stop about 2 weeks ago for I had an emergency surgery to remove the gallbladder.

Walking now is the new running.

But there's always Beethoven to cheer me up!

Thanks Terrell.

You mean to tell me you don't have the Ode to Joy running through your head?! I think I have every recording made of the 9th. . .to me, it is background music.

Look up Gustavo Dudalme1, one of the of the finest maestros I've ever seen. Ah, perfection and excitement all at once!

You'll love it. Dudamel is the Maestro for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. A very gifted young man from the poor classes in Venezuela. Here is the Ode to Joy he did with the Simon Bolivar Orchestra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ9NRL5Hmbo He's very involved with the youth of Venezuela. .
