Good morning, friends! ☀️
Today’s issue is a briefer one, as the weather here has been pretty rainy and dreary for the past few days, and of course you already know my tale of woe about the injury I’ve been nursing.
However, it is Super Bowl Sunday, which brings a bit of tension into our household. My wife Meredith was born and spent many years growing up in California near San Francisco, so the 49ers are pulling at her heartstrings.
On the other hand, we took our 10-year-old to see Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie last fall, a few months after our 19-year-old saw her on that same tour in concert here in Atlanta, so to say we’re fans would be a bit of an understatement. And that, of course, means we’re pulling for the Chiefs, right?
For years, “what time is the Super Bowl?” has been among the most-Googled questions on this weekend of the year, as the NFL famously never would release the actual time the game started; I just happened to type into my browser’s search bar, “will Taylor Swift…” and of course it supplied the rest: “… be at the Super Bowl?”
The AP is apparently on the case, and as of 12 hours ago, social media reports say she had made it to Los Angeles’s LAX airport — which leads me to believe there’ll be a Taylor sighting after all. Who knows, maybe many? 😀
I hope you have an amazing Sunday out there, wherever you are in the world, and get a great run in — as always, keep in touch.
Your friend,
— Terrell
🏃♂️ To run
🏞️ Perpetua Coast Trail Runs. A stunningly gorgeous run along the trails inside Oregon’s Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, whose 2,700 acres are home to more than 20 miles of trails that tower some 800 feet above the Pacific coastline below. The scenic area is in a coastal Oregon village known as Yachats, known for its “cozy beach town charm, rocky shoreline bluffs, sandy beaches, epic headland vistas and moss-draped old growth rainforest,” and named by the native Alsea people, whose history here dates back more than 6,000 years. You’ll be able to choose among a 50K which runs on Saturday and a half marathon and 20-miler, which run on Sunday. Set for October 5-6, 2024.
🏅 Lake Placid Marathon + Half. A scenic summertime run through this small village in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York, which also hosted the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics — which you’ll be reminded of when you pass by local sights like the National Sports Academy, the Olympic Ski Jump and the Speedskating Oval arena. The half marathon follows a loop route around Mirror Lake, which lies in the heart of Lake Placid, while the full marathon follows a double out-and-back route; both share “mountain views, open areas, shaded areas, and [a] trout stream along the way,” organizers add. Set for June 9, 2024.
