I love stories of people who don't let the past dictate what the future can be. As in...realizing YOU get to decide whether or not you're an athlete and to what extent you choose to pursue physical activity in your life.
I went to Catholic school in Georgia in the 60s. Sports were most definitely NOT on the agenda. By the time I migrated North to public school, I had labeled myself as not an athlete--not coordinated---etc. etc. Takes work to change the narrative, but it can be done.
I LOVED hearing Wendi's story--go, Wendi! Thanks to you both.
One of my DEKA shirts says "We are all Athletes". I think that one of the things I love about that arena is the chance to see so many people changing the narrative and finding the athlete within.
Sadly I didn't hit the 100k. Ended at 91.8. It was a brutal course with hot weather, and I took 2 big falls. Positive side, it was a beautiful event and I was top 3 finisher in distance and took 1st place female in my category. Longest distance I've done and longest I have spent on a course. Will have to tackle the distance again to finish it.
Thanks Mike. I am trying!!! It was the first time I haven't finished a planned distance, so I am still trying to convince myself of the accomplishment, lol. Your comment helps!
SO good. Gorgeous, joyful photos, too. Thank you so much! This series just keeps getting better!!
Awww, thanks. How can you not smile in such beautiful places!

Sound like a pretty good addiction!

Candidly, to me it sounds like you still crushed it!
I like your mindset of putting it in the rearview mirror and already looking toward the next challenge. Good luck.

love this!
you ARE an athlete.
it took me *so* long to own that label, and it felt so good when I did.
Thank you
Weird how a "simple descriptor" can make us feel so many things ♡
So great to meet you Wendi super inspiring
