I loved these sentences: "One of the reasons I love running is because it’s such a pure example of how hard work pays off. The more you put in, the more you get out of it. And I think that attitude has helped me in my career."

I trained for and ran my first marathon when I was trying to sell a company in a very difficult M & A transaction. What I said to myself-in addition to the "you can do hard things"--was that if the sale fell through, I would at least have one challenge that I COULD control under my belt. And that gave me a sense of balance throughout. (The deal DID go through and exceeded all expectations.) I've always wondered if I would have had the deal resilience had it not been for the sense of empowerment I got through training.

Thanks, Elaheh for sharing your story! Diana

I do too! Keeping that kind of get-up-and-go energy with all those responsibilities is inspiring.
