I am late to comment but thank you for sharing your wonderful story, Debby! I also love the feeling of camaraderie in races where you are suddenly friends with hundreds of strangers. Good luck with your future races and running--
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and for letting me share. I honestly feel like I'm among friends. We surely all have something in common and it's great we have been brought together, thanks to Terrell.
This was a great story and so timely. After a long hiatus, I've been religiously doing my couch to 5k routine (I'm about Debby's age--66)--and what is allowing me to be successful, is acknowledging that I can't compare myself to how fast/strong I used to be--not if I want to "Keep running until I'm 100." Debby, thanks for sharing your story--it's given me greater confidence and motivation!
Congrats Debby! I loved reading your story, and the joy you get from running. Enjoy! And Terrell, these "stories" have become my favorite part of your newsletter. Each seem to provide insights and/or inspiration that continue to fuel my wish to run for many, many more years. Thank you!
Bouncing around quite a bit in the coming weeks, but maybe we can chat sometime in mid/late June and you can determine if my story is "newsletter worthy" 😊
what a wonderful story. I'm 70 and was thinking about giving up running after I strained my knee over the winter. But now I'm rethinking. There is a peony farm 1 mile from my house and every year, I'd do a run through the fields of peony when they bloom early AM. I was thinking of not doing it this year, but now. why not. I can do this after reading Debby's story, thanks.......
That, more than anything, is why I do this, John — so glad to hear how Debby’s story affected you, and I want to hear about your next run through those peonies! Take care of that knee, my friend 🙌
"You have plenty to give. Be patient with yourself. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Don’t take yourself so seriously. Take time to soak in your surroundings. Love life and it will love you back." Debby you are making me cry with these words!

Great post Terrell nice to meet you Debby
Love this! Thank you both! 🥰
That is so great, thank you so much for sharing. I love the Jeff Galloway program as well, so great you got to meet him.
You are a wonderful inspiration, Debby! Thank you for sharing your story!
I love this. In my own running, my goal is to be a 'fast old lady'! My husband is my coach, and he headlines my workouts 'FOL' :)
I'm 58 now, and you give me lots of inspiration to keep working on my running - and enjoy it!

I have 2-3 weeks before they bloom here in Long Valley, I'll be watching for them to bloom. Thanks for the encouragement, I really do love running.
