I was rooting for the Longhorns on both games against Georgia and was so impressed with the Bulldogs. They play so well and sent the Horns home easily. I live in Austin and have rooted for the Horns for a long time. When my daughter was little in the 80s, we’d go to many Horns baseball games. During the games, I would test her baseball knowledge by giving her baseball situations and she would name them. It was a fun way for her to learn the game, being there with her, my son and wife was a great way to spend time together. She lives in Kansas City now and is a huge Royals fan.
Oh how cool, Mombadear! I actually visited Omaha once, just over 20 years ago. I loved the city -- though I'm sure it's changed a lot since then! We actually went to an Omaha Royals game :)
Sometimes we need a child to bring out the child in us. Adulthood has a habit of suppressing it.
So, so true, isn't it? And we don't even realize it's happening as it does, do we?
You're so right. It creeps up on us.

What a beautiful essay....
Thanks, Diana!!
My dad taught me how to keep score, which instilled a lifelong love of baseball (and scorekeeping). Of course ice cream helps too!
It helps SO much, especially when they're little, doesn't it? 🤣
Having been born in Omaha- Go big Red. I wear my NE shirts proudly especially when they play Penn State ( where I now live)
Also, loved the photo. Baseball not so
Much but my mother and grandmother were huge baseball fans.
