WOW!!! I needed this today. You were spot on. I decided to do my first Triathlon for my 50th birthday, highly underestimated the swim portion, I too got to meet the nice kayak person. I never thought I would make it any further but when I got out of the water a nice gentleman made the mistake of calling me ma'am and then offering me a chair...what???? I ran to my bike and finished the race. It wasn't pretty but I did it one step at a time just like you said. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend..this too shall pass:)

I love your triathalon story for the spontaneous decision you made coupled with your arm over the kayak! I made a similar decision about a triathalon in my early thirties (but with a full WEEK to "train") and was grateful that the breaststroke was a part of my childhood. Those times of one step in front of the other are in a different--though overlapping--circle from the trained-for-it times of satisfaction. Thanks for sharing your story!

@terrell - Thank you for sharing this poignant and personal story. I often appreciate your transparency. I hope you had some good time “off” the other day on your personal day.

Right now is one of those open-ended times in our family. My 2-1/2 week old grandson is in the hospital with a fever over 101. Lots of tests, all came back negative so far. Still waiting for Covid results. Other tests still to go.

Often these things turn out to be nothing at all. But he is so young and it isn’t easy on mommy & daddy and Grammy & Saba. We are not worried per se, but certainly the unknown is wearing. We believe that where the Bible says G-d can work good in all things it is true. And we put our trust in him, waiting to see the outcome. Yet it is not easy at all. Thanks for listening. Blessings and shalom.

Blessings right back to you, my friend. I am so sorry to hear this about your grandson, and hoping for you and your whole family that he's okay. Glad all the tests so far have come back negative. Sometimes little guys just get like this, as you know. (But I'm sure the feeling is heightened by the time we're in.) Let me know how the Covid test results go!

Thank you. Covid test came back negative last evening! They moved him to the Children’s hospital in their city so they can explore what is going on with the hematoma he has on his head, leftover from birth. It is a usual thing to have one but has not gone down as it should.
