I started running in 1977 to lose weight. I have since gained most of it back, but at 75 and a two-time cancer survivor (lymphoma and leukemia) I am allowed to. I have covered over 60,000 miles in training and races. I have finished 17 full marathons, at least as many half marathons and many 5ks and 10ks. I am now running primarily 5ks and 10ks, but intend to get back to half marathons next year. Being at my age, there are so few runners that I can now win my age group. I do not intend to stop any time soon.

I've been on your list for awhile, feel like this is the right time for my first comment! Up until last fall, I had mostly run 5ks, maybe 1 or 2 a year. Last year I recommitted to running, and did 3 5ks from Oct-Dec, and the training got me excited for the next challenge. At the end of 2023, I set up my 2024 race calendar and signed up for a spring 10k, a summer 10-miler, and then the fall Baltimore Running Festival Half Marathon. In Dec 2023, I also became a paid subscriber here. Your emails have really nice reads, and it has been great to feel connected to a wider community (even if I'm just reading!). I accomplished my 2024 race calendar successfully, and the BRF Half was the longest I've ever run. It was an amazing experience, and I'm thinking about my plans for 2025. Looking forward to revisiting old posts you have with race write-ups for inspiration. Thanks for cultivating this space!
