I think your recommendations have been great! One way to shuffle the deck a bit would be to look at races by geography versus month. That way we could look at races in a particular region and pick the time of year to align with vacation schedules. I often see a great race, but I have a date conflict. Even revisiting all of the races that were already recommended and putting them in a big searchable database would be phenomenal. Also, if you could link pictures of the event (not photos of racers) course it would help determine which races I'm interested in without having to do additional google searches for photos or videos. Thx for all of the great insights.

This is a great idea, Jim! I've wrestled with exactly how to handle this for a while, and never really come up with a good solution. Your idea might be the way to go.

I've put together lists for a handful of states -- you can see them here:

https://www.thehalfmarathoner.com/p/13-texas-half-marathons-youll-love

I really like your idea about linking to photos too... will think on that!

Thanks for the quick response Terrell. I think this is perfect. I was just having a conversation about how we can actually apply AI to challenges in our company. It seems like there should be a method for taking your current data set and making it searchable by date or state or country. Then you can post about new races you've found anywhere in the world and have the database easily accessible and a click away when your readers go to that post. It sure sounds easier when someone else is going to do the work. :) Cheers and have a great run this weekend!

Don't know if anyone is interested, but the half marathon is open on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Its on November 9th. Flight to Raleigh-Durham. I might make that one as a meet-up. Looks another one about the same date in Fort Lauderdale. Just ideas for this fall. . .

I’m looking for a downhill marathon (but not super downhill like the revel races), somewhere pretty on or in the west coast or southwest. Ideally somewhere I can also spend a few days and eat some good food after the marathon.

Oh yes! There's a whole race series with courses like this, the Revel series -- and they're mostly out west: https://www.runrevel.com/

Terrell, I still love this blog but I have been so busy with the end of school [got there - the end of May]; buying a new home [closing likely, FINALLY, June 25th] and changing the direction of my race plans. I’ve been getting nagging injuries, none significant but all nagging and troublesome, so have decided to take up Speed Triathlons - yeah, I know, likely makes no sense! It allows me to start to use different muscles, not just the legs!

I’m in training mode for that so, while not pushing too hard, still a little trying as I learn to use different muscles with these different events.

If you want to add to your already growing list of things you do for us, you’re welcome to add in speed triathlons!

You want to see wild horses? Try Nevada. They used to come into my back yard in Gold Hill NV. They are protected there in Carson City. . .

Look up in Northern Nevada. That's where I'm from. Not exactly flat, but not too steep. I did endurance horse riding

I've always wanted to run Valley to the Sea on Maui. Signed up on the Early Bird races for March this upcoming year. Now getting there and actually doing it. . . well, it might just be a dream!

dream race would be a tour of races: for example: (Highest Altitude, Lowest Altitude, x race, y race) ; set in different locations. Your finish for the first race would set your starting time for the next (or some other method to aggregate the totals race time)

I'm wondering if we are going to run the race in Savannah as a group. I'll know by the end of the month if I'm going to be running a half or full for fall.

Still working on that! I will let you know for sure soon -- I'm focusing on those first couple weeks of November, that seems ideal.

I'd love to run through some great American national parks... Would love to see your maps for this kind of adventure.

Hi there Mina! What part of the country would you like to run in? There's a race management company called Vacation Races, which hosts races in or near national parks out west (and a couple further east) -- here's their site: https://www.vacationraces.com/

There's also a set of races in and around the Utah national parks, called Mad Moose Events: https://www.madmooseevents.com/

There are *also* some near the Grand Canyon, which I've put together a list of here: https://www.thehalfmarathoner.com/p/how-you-can-run-close-to-the-grand

Just let me know! :)
