Haven’t really noticed yet but I’m sure they are coming. Probably won’t change my sneakers choice but will probably avoid any running clothing purchases for the foreseeable future

True! Same old poles, but I suppose they are more popular now. I see hikers & ultra runners with them everywhere!

As far as I can tell, the built in glove is a little easier to get on and off. . .other than that, they are the same. . . I'll use my old ones til they wear out. . . at least a million years from now!

Another clear spring day here. The Iris are nearly done blooming. Garlic is big, should set scapes soon! Farmer's Market on Tuesday!! Have a good run! :)

I haven’t seen any changes so far. My go-to shoes are the Mizuno Wave Prophecy which are normally $250 when they first come out. That’s a bit much for my budget so I’m in the habit of buying last season’s model for $150-ish … which is still a splurge but well worth it. I just bought 2 pairs in case.

I've heard the same from Stone Creek Trading (importers of ceramic crocks for Sauerkraut who get their crocks from Poland) The buyer there says to get them now as the Tariffs there are really affecting their prices so much they have had to refuse containers at the dock

I work in the sporting goods industry as a buyer. I ordered a product which is only available from the UK. Expecting to pay the 10% tariff, I was shocked when DHL was requesting an amount that was 50% of the value of my order! Needless to say I refused the order. I don’t think many of my customers realize how much of an effect the tariffs are having. They come in to purchase an item and see the price and decide to purchase or not, not realizing how much of that cost is due to the tariffs. I support Amazon’s policy of posting how much of the purchase price is from the tariffs. We are considering doing the same in store.

Definitely feeling now that me asking this was a little premature… maybe we’ll check back in a few weeks/months!

Computer doesn't love me this morning. . . The tariffs are going to affect everything as most of our gear comes from other parts of the world. Have to put off getting things just like in olden days! I imagine prices will be about the same so we won't notice unless you are a penny pinching consumer like I am. I do notice that extra 10 cents.

Beautiful weather here. Dry. Its supposed to rain this weekend. . .I hope!! Have a good run! :)

I don't think I've seen anything hit ... yet. I imagine as retailers take delivery of Fall goods (July-ish), we could see price hikes. While companies source a lot of footwear and running gear out of China, they also contract w/ mfgs in other countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, etc., where the tariffs aren't as steep (but still 10%+). In addition, I bet supply will be a major constraint, which could also jack up prices.

Terrell Johnson's avatar

That's what I'm wondering also... I keep hearing reports of container ships either half-empty or empty, so they're not making the deliveries they otherwise would have regularly made. Which, in a few weeks/months, will filter down to us. Aye aye aye...

I'm in the L.A. media market, so it's all over the news. They're saying ship traffic into the Port of Long Beach is down by at least 30% (and unfortunately some longshoremen, truck drivers, etc. will likely lose their jobs as a result), and that things further out could be lighter. I know this is small beans compared to what else is happening, but if you think you might need new running gear between now and 2026, it might be wise to get it now.

oh, well. . .continue on VG 6 was higher in price, but I wanted to see what they were like. I treated myself to the new Trail Glove 7 to see how it had changed. Both were on sale, but I paid the same for them. Light and awesome grip! I do love the Trail Glove7!

However, looking at the pricing on the new ones, the $$$$ signs on them were more than I could afford. Looking at prices in Ultra Running Magazine for gear and shoes. . . prices are much than they were previously. . . I cannot afford $400 for trail shoes and over $300 for poles and I walk the hills most of the time.

I'm part of The Diamonds (rowing erg for over 60) now. Prices on the clothing have gone up as well as on the other stuff. Fortunately, it is indoors

I love that you're in a rowing club, Nilima! Have you ever read/seen the movie of "The Boys in the Boat"?

No, I haven't! Another one for my reading list! I'm sure enjoying "Unbroken!" and "Seabiscuit" is waiting in the wings!

The rowing club I'm in came out of the blue.I got an invite since I make the Honor Roll most of the days. . . . The Club is tops so far, going for 3 billion meters starting Sept. 15.

Just read about a crew (mostly women) going across the Pacific Ocean this summer. . . 2800 miles from Monterey to Lihue, Kauai. Open ocean! Almost as good as an Ultra only there is water involved! :) YIKES! (I don't swim very well!)

From what I gather from my daughter, prices have gone way up in the grocery store. I don't know as I don't get to go there. Most of my ordering is online so everything is about the same. I did get a new pair of Vapor Gloves and Trail Gloves from Merrell. Vapor Glove 6

No significant changes at our grocery stores (Montana). If anything our prices are a bit lower than just a few months ago. Gas is waaay less

That's good! We shall see. . . I don't know why Trail Gear has made such a leap other than the things we use on the Trails is all imported from other countries. My poles cost $79 a couple of years back. Now, they (same ones) run $299/pair.

Currently, I am still on the same cycle of replacing my running shoes. I actually picked the latest pair up for less money. I do not see any changes for myself now but am watching to see how things play out with this.

I've been thinking about buying an extra pair of my favorite shoes in case the price goes way up or they end up being in short supply, but nothing seems to be changing yet so I'm still putting it off. I went to my local running store to get some gels and compression socks and those prices seemed normal.
