One of my all-time favorite songs is "Enter Sandman" -- that guitar & bass line is just amazing.

Somewhat cheesy but totally helpful: Try Everything (Shakira- Zootopia Soundtrack), Touch the Sky (Julie Fowlis- Brave Soundtrack), Walking on Sunshine (Katrina & The Waves), Hit Me With Your Best Shot (Pat Benatar), I'm Gonna Be (The Proclaimers) and yes Run That Race (Dan Auerbach - Cars 3 Soundtrack).

Depends on my mood. Some days it's classic rock like The Doors and other days I like some 90's hard rock like Godsmack, Tool and Megadeth. Either one will keep you moving.

Here's one that at first blush wouldn't seem to be suited for running. However, Oh Darling by the Beatles is a precise 180 BPM. Through the verses, the piano chops are 3 beats per second, and the bridge features an arpeggiated guitar that mirrors the piano. I sometimes sing it in my head when I do form checks.

Thanks, Gene! I'm going to go listen to that one right now...

My running tunes tend more toward pop and hip hop, but one of my favorite recent discoveries is the song Work It by Marie Davidson. I found that one on Dance Church's playlists, which are so good. https://open.spotify.com/user/ykkxmefcftd9gcpm3diodypcq The Chick's new album, Gaslighter, has some good songs for running, too.

Thanks, Tamara! I will check both of those out -- my music tends to stay in the same lane, and I want to break out a little from it. 👍

Believe it or not, I don't listen to music when I run. I like to "feel" the outside and just be in the moment. After the run I crank-up the tunes, take a shower and eat!

I used to listen to really upbeat music but I’ve found that no music is more freeing. Running is when I escape all the noise of the day and just relax

Love everyone’s suggestions! I’ll explore the shared Spotify playlists once I’m done with my current homework assignment! I have a running playlist on Spotify that is now 7hrs long and still growing! There’s some songs I’ve added from the half marathon playlist and lots of others. Featuring upbeat, pop, instrumental/soundtracks, “fighting” “dancing” and positive vibes.

My running is going well, and I feel like I’ve finally adjusted to the humidity here. Still don’t like it, but it doesn’t wind me like it used to. In other news, I’ve a little less than a month left to finish my first online class working toward my Bachelor of Science (Health Services Technology). See y’all on the other side of finals!

This is so awesome, Colleen! (And please forgive me for not replying until now!) Hopefully the humidity will start to subside (a little) soon. You're going to run the Outer Banks Half, right? Good luck with finals!

No worries at all! I totally get how life is! I actually just saw this now, my “comment update” email must have gotten buried... I’ve come back to officially browse everyone’s music suggestions and add to my playlist. :D

Yes! I’m planning on the Outer Banks Half! If it’s a go, I’m going!

And Thanks! One more final paper to write! It’s nice that my university (TESU) operates with the working adult in mind and has continual enrollment instead of fixed semesters. Onwards and upwards!

"Heroes" by David Bowie.

"New Noise" by Refused.

"Celestica" by Crystal Castles.

"When I'm Small" by Phantogram.

"Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones.

I could go on!

I Like "Weapon of Choice" (Fatboy Slim). The mental images of Christopher Walken flying through the air go through my head. Don't know if it makes me any faster, though. And yes, I'm old, but the live version of "Live and Let Die" has some nice builds to it. Cruise during the slower parts, gain strength as the song does.

I don't listen to music when I run, although usually I like listening to podcasts. Lately I love listening to the Point of Origin food podcast from Whetstone

I'm big on podcasts too, especially when I run on the treadmill. (Actually I HAVE to have a podcast when I run on the treadmill, especially if it's a longer run.) Will definitely check out Point of Origin. Have you listened to S Town?

Now I think of a good song and try to sing it in my head while I run and I usually end up running a half mile more because I’m not focusing on anything. Its really productive for me.

Then, it could be a David Tolk song, Tom Petty:)........
