Love the comments on your son! It was my kid who got me running when I was 62! Have to see if I can walk to the top of the hill without a stick. Been doing squats every night. . . seems to help a lot. Now to get rid of this edema in my ankles and I'll be good to go! I'm signed up for the 5K in Atlanta. . .see you there! :)
"Mood follows action". A favorite Rich Roll quote. Although he may not be your favorite podcaster, he is quite introspective and analytical. I think his quote nails the antidote to human inertia...
He does but seldom can I listen to the entire podcast. If you believe that the only things we can change is ourselves, then there is much grist for the mill. However, I think that inner directed focus is a bit out of whack and we all need a better approach to the ills of this world. I'm assuming the recent shooter in Minneapolis needed plenty of mental health counseling but obviously was not getting it. We really are our brother's keeper and no man is an island. Cliches are usually more profound than we care or choose to acknowledge. If we did, we would have our work cut out for us. 😱
I am re-reading George Sheehan's classic: "Running & Being". It speaks to me on so many levels, especially at 78 years old. His insights are compelling. His prose is poetry.
A must read for everyone, especially the "spectator"...
I had a moment like that this week, too - after struggling through the bulk of half marathon training this summer, everything just clicked. (I think the change in weather to false fall helped, but also that all of this hard work is leading to something.)
Thanks, Corrina! It's funny, he's only 11 (he'll be 12 in a little over a month) and already I can feel myself feeling nostalgic for the times when he was really little. It *does* go by fast, doesn't it?

I'm SO looking forward to it, Nilima!

I will have to give him another chance, I think! He does have great guests, doesn't he?

I love that book so much — I haven’t re-read it from start to finish, but I do go back and read sections here and there again.
I have yet to find a book on running that has touched my mind, body and soul as deeply. I never get tired of Sheehan...
Positive feedback loop. Works every time. Happy trails.
Right back at you, Jerry!
Great post Terrell ebbs and flows my friend we just gotta keep moving. Glad your son maybe found his niche.
Thanks so much, Blue! I think he may have!

That’s it! It’s the “false fall” that’s making everything fall into place right now… if it were as hot here as it was earlier this month, oh boy…
Thanks for sharing this Terrell! Enjoy these years with your son. It flies by way too fast.

Faster than I can believe! My “little guy” will be 26 this October. 😳 He was just a teenager. It’s crazy how time goes by so quickly.
