Races you'll love running + weekly recommendations
Morning, friends! ☀️
It’s hard to believe it’s almost here — in just a week from now, a group of us will be running the streets of Athens, Ga., together, probably finishing up our race right about now, or not long from now.
I’d love to get as accurate a count as I can of who will be attending, so I can make a dinner reservation for us the night before the race — so please let me know, either in a reply back to this email or in the comments, if you’re planning on being there.
In your email or reply, please include your mobile number and I’ll add it to a group text that we’ll have for the weekend, so we can be in touch. (This worked well for us last year in Richmond, thanks to David O. setting it up!)
Thanks so much in advance — I hope your training has been going well, and you have an uneventful week before the race!
Your friend,
— Terrell

Blackbeard’s Half Marathon
Ocracoke Island, N.C. | Sunday, April 27, 2025
Part of the Ocracoke Island Weekend Runfest, this half takes runners along a course that spans the length of this tiny island here at the southernmost end of North Carolina’s Outer Banks, where the legendary pirate Blackbeard died and which is also home to the Watermen of Ocracoke — the fishermen, clammers, crabbers, oyster fishers and waterfowl hunters who have worked and lived here for hundreds of years. You’ll run past Ocracoke Harbor and along the island’s multi-use trail, taking in parts of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore as you make your way through the race’s middle miles before heading back toward the village of Ocracoke and its quaint homes and neighborhoods.
