Races you might love running + a few great reads
Good morning, friends! ☀️
Every week, usually on Sundays but occasionally on Mondays, I send out a list of recommended races you might love running around the world, books and articles to read, and sometimes podcasts and videos I’ve loved. This week, I’ve picked out a list of races that will take you as far away as Nice, France and Australia’s Great Ocean Road, and as near as the wine country outside Richmond, Va.
Also on this week’s list are a couple of reads I’ve found absolutely fascinating — the first on Lazarus Lake and his (infamous? legendary?) Barkley Marathons, which appeared in Bitter Southerner magazine a few years ago. The second is a book about youth sports, which is (yes, of course) about youth sports but really is about the state of parenting in the 21st century — and all the anxiety, status-chasing, worry and ridiculousness that can go with it.
If any of that sounds like something you’re interested in — and you’d like to support The Half Marathoner in its mission to help all of us get more from our running — please subscribe below. If you’re already a subscriber, thank you SO much!
Your friend,
— Terrell
