Good afternoon/evening, friends!
I write this to you in the midst of making — or, let’s be honest, attempting to make — some homemade pizza for me and little T. It’s his spring break so this week is a little wonky, and we’ve been doing day trips to the Tennessee Aquarium and other places around Atlanta.
So, I hope you’ll understand if I keep today’s intro short. But I would love to know how you’re doing with the March running challenge we talked about last week — how are you doing this month? Are you on pace to hit the goal you want? What are you aiming at?
I’d love to hear, and catch up on everything — as always, keep in touch and let me know how your running/life is going.
Let’s chat in the comments!
Your friend,
— Terrell

Thunder Dragon Marathon + Half
Paro, Bhutan | Sunday, May 28, 2023
Nestled between China to its north and India to its south, this small, landlocked country in the Eastern Himalayas is “mystical, enchanting and like nowhere you have ever been,” the organizers note, adding that its landscapes range from subtropical forests to towering mountains whose peaks top 20,000 feet above sea level. For this race, you’ll run through Bhutan’s Paro Valley, a place with many sacred sites and shrines, including the famous Tiger’s Nest, a Bhuddist monastery where you can look out onto the town and the valley as well as the mountains that surround it. Still remote and open only to very limited numbers of tourists, Bhutan offers through this event a “chance to see the country at ground level, to immerse yourself in its unique culture and enjoy an unforgettable running and travel experience.”

Cayuga Trails 50
Ithaca, N.Y. | Saturday, June 3, 2023
A gorgeous, challenging run through Ithaca’s Robert H. Treman State Park — a place whose 1,100 acres are filled with miles of single-track trails, a dozen waterfalls, mountain gorges and stream-fed pools, some of which you’ll trek through on the course — this race features both a 50-miler and a 50K. Participants are allowed to bring hiking poles with them on the course, which is 95 percent trails, including some sections of historic stone stairs and (probably slippery) stone sections along stream beds, as well as thick forested stretches with tree canopy covering you all around.
