Good morning, everyone! ☀️

If you live in the U.S., then you’re waking up to Mother’s Day — a holiday that can bring up different emotions for each of us, and, as each year passes, fills me with gratitude for my own mom and reminds me there are many, many different kinds of mothers, and they all should be celebrated; it’s also graduation season, so a lot of us are saying goodbye (for now) to our young ones; and it’s day 14 of our May running challenge… so, we’ve got a lot going on right now!

Spring so far, for me, busier and more active than I’m used to, largely because our oldest is graduating from high school — which brings up all of the emotions, all of the time going down memory lane in my mind. Time is both speeding up and slowing down in the same moment, if that makes any sense.

It’s been especially great to hear from you all each day in the Chat section of our app, as we share our daily progress toward our May running goals — I wanted you to know how much each of you have inspired me to stick with it and not give up, which is something my body has tried to persuade me to do more than once this month.

Have a great, great run out there today — and, as always, keep in touch.

Your friend,

— Terrell

🏃 To run

⛰️ Aspen Backcountry Marathon + Heavy Half. A gorgeous, challenging run along the mountain trails that surround Aspen, Colo., with “ascents and descents and overall elevation gain will challenge even the most well-trained athletes,” organizers say. The race route changes every year; this year’s begins and ends in Aspen’s Rio Grande Park, you’ll cross bridges and run over the Roaring Fork River, before heading into the Elk Mountains overlooking the city, for a long run along the mountain ridges before making your descent back into Aspen for the finish. Set for August 5, 2023.

🦫 Beaver Canyon Marathon + Half. Nestled in the southwestern corner of Utah, about 200 miles from Salt Lake City, this race unfolds through the scenic Tushar Mountains, a “a hidden gem of high altitude peaks, mountain canyons, alpine lakes and stunning terrain.” You’ll follow a downhill course through the canyon, starting at 10,000 feet and winding through the mountains and canyons, dropping some 4,000 feet by the time you reach the finish at Pioneer Park. Set for August 5, 2023.
