Terrell

I’ve been reading but not subscribing for awhile now. Finally pulled the trigger.

I understand the challenge of staying on top of running without a goal. I’ve been running for a number of years. Mostly half’s. I ran four last year. Evidently all the miles have caused a small tear in my right knee meniscus

I’ve been resting and slowly getting back outside running. Surgery is an option but the surgeon isn’t encouraging it at my age (I love that comment). I’m 59. Good shape so I’m focused on getting back into my training routine.

If anyone has experience with a meniscus tear I’d welcome thoughts

Also, I’m trying to run a half in every state and have not done GA. I’d be interested in either one.

Thanks for sharing your passion for running and how living your life with family/career effects your running

All best

Alex, are you my long lost twin? Lol. I'm 59, run mostly half's, want to run in every state( may have started too late) and I have a small meniscus tear. My doctor didn't want to do surgery which frustrated me, I wanted it fixed. But I followed his advice, rested, did the recommended stretches and got back to running.

Once I was better, I ran faster and stronger than ever, I slacked off on the knee exercises and guess what? Injury flared up!! So now with experience comes wisdom, I do the stretches!

Good luck with your healing.

See you in Georgia😀

Thank you for the laugh!! My long lost twin 😊

Crazy coincidence

Please share the stretching with me if you can.

I’m slowly running again. Keeping miles at around 3 per run.

How many states have you run one in??

Thanks for reaching our

Your twin from Michigan 😄

I sent you pics of the exercise sheets he gave me. I used that for awhile until I found a program called Hinge Health, which I love!

I think I have 9 states done. Georgia should be 10.

I’m in Florida. 🥵

It’s good to have two around the same time in case of illness or something coming up, but I’m planning to join you in Georgia. 🤞🏻

Really wish I was in your part of the world. Another Substack post I needed to read. I get that a lot when I’ve been off it for a while. It’s time to review my own running and it’s been very poor these last few weeks. I’ve struggled to get out and felt really bad that I’ve drifted off my targets for my up coming 10km race. From starting the year in such good form and with high hopes, I’m now feeling rather despondent and would be happy to just cross the line in 3 weeks time. 😩 I’ve lost a lot of pace, struggle over even short distances and my hope of trying to do a half marathon next year seems too difficult to plan. I’m going to reset my targets, get back to enjoying my running without training for anything for a while and see how I feel by the end of the summer. Anyway, wish I could join you guys. Take care everyone.

I'm in! I've looked at the one in Athens before. My in-laws and family lived there for a long time. One of my sisters-in-law worked for the U of Georgia and her husband was a Prof. in Veterinary Science, so I've been there. Pretty area and great Thai food!! My other relates live in North Carolina and Raleigh-Durham, so it's sort of old home week for me. Take your pick. . . I've saved my flight miles so I can come back for the occasion.

Wow! If we choose Athens, the rates for registering now are cheap. . . only $75. Looks good to me and a similar run to the one in Eugene. . . only warmer!! :)

This year was terrible. one of our biggest rains of the year! :)

Either would work for me, but Athens would be better because the previous weekend (Silver Comet) is also my kids' fall break weekend so it's possible I would be traveling!

I would love to do this but I am already committed to running the NYC marathon on November 3. I'm really hopeful that I can make one of these in the future though.
