A (short) summertime break
I'm away this week with little T, but I'll be back next week
Good morning (or even afternoon, depending on where you’re reading this), friends! ☀️
When you read this, I’ll actually be far away from home, in Wyoming where we’ll be visiting Yellowstone National Park — so, it’s safe to say, I won’t be getting any running in this week.
But, that’s okay — if you’re following the training plan I sent out a couple of weeks ago, we’re still very early in our schedule and we aren’t running all that many miles each week. So there’s plenty of time to catch up when I get back. And, that’s what the early weeks of training, with mostly low mileage numbers, are for — to allow space for life to happen.
So with that, I’ll sign off — I just wanted to say, even though I’m away, thanks for being here, and for supporting The Half Marathoner. Already about five or so of you have signed up to run the Athens (Ga.) Half Marathon with me in November, which I’m really excited about. There’s still more than enough time to train for it if you’re interested — I’d love to meet up with you there.
Until next week, I hope you get some great runs in — let me know how it goes!
Your friend,
— Terrell
Our training miles for this week
How did last week’s miles go for you? How has your running been going (especially in the record summer heat so many of us have been experiencing)? This is why I like to start with modest-size runs, and gradually build up; there’s no need to overdo it right now.
Here are our miles for the week ahead:
Thursday, July 11 — 3-4 miles
Saturday, July 13 — 4 miles
Sunday, July 14 — 3 miles
Tuesday, July 16 — 3 miles
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions about our schedule, your running, or anything else 👍 — Terrell
And did you know today (July 12th) is Simplicity Day in honor of Henry David Thoreau? One of the first in America to encourage hiking and fun? :)
Have fun at Yellowstone!!!
